mbrody Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 GG, I recommend you don't give up on the Mag 50 until you have tried some acclimated examples from a nice 25/50 count box. My first experience was with a 10Ct box that was dull. Tried some from a 25ct after a little sleep in my humidor and WOW. However, everyone is different, so YMMV (I always wanted to use that one!).
ksblazer Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 I've found the Mag50's to be consistant and good, but in my opinion they don't have that cuban taste I'm looking for. To me they tasted NC. I've gone thru a cab of 10. Do the #2's have a different flavor profile? Yes the No.2's have a different profile. Since I originally posted this thread. I have smoked the Mag 48's & 50 as well as the No.2's. They are all good so I'm not suprised by anyones answer here. But right now I'm really enjoying the No.2's. But it sounds like I need to give the 46's a try soon.
Dbone Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I voted for the 48's, although that's the on Upmann I can honestly say I've had of the marca. I LOVE those 48's. Do the 48's resemble the 46's, which seems to be the popular leader of this poll? If so, Im going to have to give those an honest try.
shrink Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 This thread prompted me to pull out a MAY08 Conn. No. 1 last night. It's the first I've had in several months, since one example seemed to be going into a funk. Last night's example was excellent. Strong and rich, with notes of cocoa, toasted tobacco and pepper. These are gonna be dynomite in a few years. Put away a box or two.
El Presidente Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 48's 46's 50's 1's. Upmann have been doing it right for some time.
Wil Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Don't hear too much about the Upmann PC. I reckon it's a great mareva.
aes8 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Just curious out of the four, which Box of H. Upmann's would be your first choice? Thanks and I look forward to your reply's. What the PC gets no love?
warren516 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I haven't had the pleasure of any of these yet, since I've just gotten into smoking CC's. That being said, there was another discussion on the top 5 CC smokes everyone enjoyed and the Mag 46 was in quite a few of them. So I chatted with Lisa and ordered a box. It should be here in a couple of days.
Puros Y Vino Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Magnum 50! Chose two boxes actually. The 46's are excellent as well.
Cohiba007 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I voted for the 48. Yes it is short, but that is part of the beauty of it. I don't want a churchill with my morning coffee. This size is great for my mornings and OH SOOOOO tasty.
JohnnyC Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 With my Limited experience with Upmann's I would have to say the Mag 48 would be my choice.... only because I have only had a Mag 48. One day I would love to sample they Mag 50, No. 2's and of course the much admired Sir Winnies.
joeypots Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I took the 46 because I love the size. Even the '05 I smoked yesterday was pretty good and they were the worst box of 46s I ever bought. Vitola choice for me usually comes down to time and what size fits the window.
Scott08 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I've had the robust and I think the pc and have a Sir Winnie still sitting in the desktop waiting on me to get in the mood for it but I would take the #2 after reading and listening to the reviews and them. They would seem to fit the flavor profile that I like.
mazolaman Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Just had a 46 tubo,which was really nice,and for me,much better than the 48s and 50s I've had recently. I really should get some no2s.
stogieokie Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 46's have to be one of my absolute favorite smokes, especially with five plus years of age on them. Connie 1's are a close second in my book. I should say that my opinions may be a bit biased though . . . I have a few 50's laying from '08, so it may be time to give one a try. I've never delved too deeply into #2's either, though the ones I've had have been good. I'm an admitted PC *****, but I don't care for the HUPC at all for some reason. Sir Winnies are another one that I very limited experience with. I tend to find something that I really like and go deep with it. Glad to hear that you all are liking the '08's!
DoubleDD Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Regular production, No. 2. However, I purchased a box of Mag 48 ELs and let them rest. I tried one and was suprised. I tried several others after that and each one was a great at the first. I have since purchased 4 boxes. I usually stay away from ELs but this one appeals to my palate. I wish they were regular production.
jdbrown Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Don't hear too much about the Upmann PC. I reckon it's a great mareva. I picked up a box of Upmann Regalias last month. To me it was a smaller version of Sir Winston but stronger. I was very surprised and the price is right! Just ordered two boxes of them to lay down.
