Well, seems like the same old Schtick for the BBWAA. Only 1 man voted in to the Baseball Hall of Fame, and it isn't Blyleven, or Roberto Alomar, or Barry Larkin.

Andre Dawson.

No offence to the Hawk - but Blyleven missed by 5 votes and his absence from the Hall is ever more ridiculous. Alomar was THE dominant Second Basemen for the 1990s, missed by 8 votes, and should have been a 1st ballot HOFer. Shame on the 8+ voters who refuse to vote for 1st ballot guys, regardless of who they are.

At least Bly and Alomar are locks for next season.

And yeah, I'm biased - a lifetime Blue Jays fan, I can't wait to see Alomar inducted as the first with a Toronto cap in the Hall of Fame. But any argument against his induction is easily refuted.

Any other baseball fans on FOH?

The dominant second baseman of the 80s, Ryne Sandberg, won 9 gold gloves and was forced to wait three years to get in. Alomar will make it soon, but since Sandberg was denied the honor of election on the first ballot, I am not concerned that Alomar was as well.

Blyleven had the nastiest curve ball for a right handed pitcher during his era. Sure wish he would come back to my Bucco's. We could use all the help we can get. :cap: I am sure at his age, he would be better than 75% of our current staff.

As I look out on PNC park from my office, I can't imagine anyone paying for a Pittsburgh Pirate baseball ticket for the upcoming season. It is going to be another season of excuses.

I've got a special place for Bly in my heart too - I wish I coulda seen him play live.

I sympathise with your Bucs - I feel the same way about my Jays. Really no point to watching them now with Halladay gone to Philly.
