stargazer14 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I have a box from 08 which i love and thought I would compare with an 07 vintage hoping they would be even better. I will post a review of the 08's soon but find a few notes on it here: For those that dont think a small cigar can offer much should definately take a hard look at this Punch. They amaze me more everytime I have one, for sure in my top 5 smokes. Venue: My long cruise to work - a great time for me to savor a cigar. Appearance: Well built with a dusty mocha shade wrapper, peppered with a staining of tiny white crystals of 'plume' Draw: Perfect Burn: Perfect. Body: medium -full Time: 65 min. (these CAN last a while, dont rush this little gem) Drink: Cuban Coffee (thanks Jimmy!) Opening: This is the part I found interesting over the 08, this 07 had little going on at the first few draws where the 08 was 'wow!" - just full of fresh tobacco and citrus. This one took a while to open up but was woody. 1/3: Leather - thats what keep going thru my head, the flavor getting more pronounced over time. well used, but clean leather. I was in the tack room. 2/3: Still strong leather but changing now with coffee and a hint of pepper. Final 3rd: Leather mostly faded to pepper and oaky notes with a touch of cream, enjoyable, very different from the opening in strength and flavor. Don't pass on these - some folks think it might be too strong for morning but i LOVE them with a good coffee. And if you think a 4" small gauge cigar can not be more than 2 dimensional - you are very wrong. I find the flavors to be just perfect in that search for cigar nirvana, I do need to try the large Punch offerings. As mentioned I will post my 08 thoughts but in a nutshell I found the opening of the 08 to be spectacular, where this one at a year older took a while to get up and go but was still very good. This is an excellent small smoke. I should mention that i heard these will disappear, so grab a few boxes soon, I myself will be sad the day I can get no more. 91/100
thechenman Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Nice review and pics. the Punch Petit Punch packs a nice little punch (pun intended). A nice chewy little smoke.
cigaraholic Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 A man after my own heart, smoking in the car. Besides outside my house my car is my cigar lounge. Never in a hurry anymore. I was just trying to figure out what I was going to tell the CHP while I was driving, smoking and taking pictures of the cigar. Thanks for the review. Where are my car keys?
stargazer14 Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 The plush leather seats, varnished walnut, excellent air-exchange system, great audio, beautiful view out the window... it really is the perfect cigar lounge with a new location when you leave! There is a small issue with the bar setup but ... yes, the Audi is my place to get much from my smoke without interuption.
cigarros Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Thx for sharing and great review with nice picks! Lookin' forward to hear more)) ((RooSSie))
samb Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Sounds like a great lil smoke. Put on my list of 'gars to try/buy.
Azksig Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I just got my box in from Czar's last Monday. I can't wait. I'll try one in a couple of weeks or so and then report back. They are just teasing me right now because of the way they look and smell.
