Onsto Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 So the story goes that in the closing hours before the embargo on Cuba, JFK had his secretary buy 1200 Upmann Petit Upmann cigars for his own personal stash. So, I guess we know the answer to this question for him. What's your answer - you can make the call and get an unlimited amount of cigars, but it's your last chance and you can only pick one cigar? It's going to be the only one you can smoke from now until eternity...For the purposes of the 'survey' (ahem) I feel we should ignore cigars that are produced in extremely limited editions or are freakishly rare. My answer would be (predictable and unimaginative though it is) the Montecristo #2. A good one is fantastic, and while I don't get through the volume of any of the professionals on the site, I have never had one that was bad, merely a few that were 'average'. It's a forever friend, the labrador of cigars...
samb Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 In my limited experience with marques/vitolas, I would opt for the CoRo.
Colt45 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Tough call - I'd have to flip a coin between the Bolivar Corona Gigantes and the H. Upmann Sir Winston. There are a few others I could live with as well.
MrGlass Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 HdM Des Dieux +1. Even the name is fantastic.
shrink Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 The Serie du Connaisseur would be tempting, but I'll go with the Partagas 898V.
El Presidente Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Another for the Partagas 898 V. Could cut it in half for a barbarian Partagas Short or as is known around here....a 4 4.5 4
BobLobLaw Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 At this point Mag 46, but there is so many I have not even tried, even in this thread!
roughrider Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 in the closing hours before the embargo on Cuba, JFK had his secretary buy 1200 Upmann Petit Upmann cigars for his own personal stash. A ****** move on his part. I think Oswald would agree. Party SP2 or SD4 for me.
Onsto Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 A ****** move on his part. I think Oswald would agree.Party SP2 or SD4 for me. ******, or genius? I have to go with the latter - just 'cos everyone else can't have them, doesn't mean you shouldn't.
Kangaroo495 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I'd probably go a Monte 2 also. But would need to be guaranteed that it was a GOOD Monte 2
roughrider Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 ******, or genius? I have to go with the latter - just 'cos everyone else can't have them, doesn't mean you shouldn't. Acting on insider information for personal gain while leaving your fellow countrymen high and dry = something a real ****** would do imo.
bigfunkyg Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Although my last box might make me think otherwise I woukd still say CoRo as well. I don't think I could go on in life without her.
Onsto Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 Acting on insider information for personal gain while leaving your fellow countrymen high and dry = something a real ****** would do imo. Sounds like every politician, ever. If it's any consolation to you, I doubt he managed to smoke them all.
CigarLouie Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 He could have at least gave everyone warning that it was about to take effect. Did the embargo occur through a majority vote in congress, or as an executive order from the president? I think I am leaning towards a "good" Monte #4
thechenman Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 This is a tough call, but upon thinking about it I would go with the Party 898V.
Bahnofstrasse Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Relegated to just one choice it will have to cover a number of areas of smoking pleasure...I'll go with the versatile BBF.
