El Presidente Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 ken is back from fishing in New Zealand and the bludging bastard has sent me these pics I assume to post on the forum. Notice how he has mastered the art of pushing the fish as close to the camera as possible. Most of these fish are 5lb but Ken claims 7-9. They always feel heavier when you are holding them at full extension
SamuraiJack Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Notice how he has mastered the art of pushing the fish as close to the camera as possible. HAHAHAHA I have been known to dabble in that fine art myself.... But those are some real beaut's!
MIKA27 Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Great pictures, what a beautiful country New Zealand is. It's so hard to find such crystal clear lakes these days, at least here. What trout farm did you go to Ken?

They always feel heavier when you are holding them at full extension that is all very kind but if you read your own forum, you'd be aware that i had already posted these. scales were compared to a finely calibrated set from the lodge kitchen and spot on.

What trout farm did you go to Ken? i'd be careful mentioning trout farms on this forum as our very own grand poobah is off to one with the family for chrissie! the big ones came from a river down near hamner and the others around the nelson lakes, all south island.

Thanks for the information Ken, it looks like you had a great time. Stupid question, but I'm guessing now is about the best time of the year to fish in NZ?
Ken Gargett Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Thanks for the information Ken, it looks like you had a great time.Stupid question, but I'm guessing now is about the best time of the year to fish in NZ? season is effectively october to april and it varies hugely each season. have fished late april, when there are some big fish as they are off to spawn and fattening up, and had great results. following year zip. some like early october as the fish have not seen a fly for months. any time is good.

Good to know mate, thanks. I'm planning on taking the kids that way for some fishing next year.
reigndrop Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Nice pictures Ken. Looks like you had a great time. Looking forward to taking a trip down under sometime soon, maybe for New Years.

shrink Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Ken, I look forward to the day when I see pix of you caressing your new girlfriend with the same tenderness and excitement with which you hold these fish. At least you're getting some practice.
Ken Gargett Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Got stuck into a heap of sauvignon blanc while you were at it Ken?? not one. lot of pinot and almost anything else that came from grapes, grain, sugar cane, cactus, and so on. but not a single sniff of the dreaded toxic weed.

The paparazzi had no problems sniffing out Tiger's conquests. I trust that yours would be ever so rare and newsworthy.

In my experience Shrink....the facial expression of women who have gone out with Ken is very similar to that of these fish. You know....that "How could I be so stupid" look
thechenman Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 So KG...who were the bevy of ladies huddling around you in your 1st post about this fishing sojourn in NZ? From the grin on your face...I have to image it was a good thing...

Ken Gargett Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Ken, nice catches! I'll bet they will cook up well! When we trout fish, fresh caught trout gets immediately gutted/cleaned and fried up in the pan with a little butter and fresh herbs. Nothing better with an ice cold beer.
