Colt45 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Construction: Nice weight with a bit of spring. Good foot bunch showing uniformity at the head under the cap. Wrapper: Beautiful tan, silky to the touch, just a bit bumpy with moderate veining. Pre-Light Aroma / Draw / Taste: Very aromatic - core of animal with light raisin fruit on top. Somewhat loose draw with a very light tobacco taste. Draw / Burn / Smoke: Draw could be a little firmer for me. Excellent burn and smoke volume. Taste: First draws are dominated by salt and pepper spice. Hints of nuts with a light creaminess to the texture of the smoke. Allowing it to settle in, I find it medium in body, smooth in delivery, but a little unsettled on the finish - barely detectable bit of fruit on the aftertaste. The smoke has a texture of buttery shortbread on the palate, though not very dense, which I attribute to a slightly loose draw. Burn and smoke have been exemplary. The first third has shown very good tobacco with wood and nuts on the mid palate, buttery on the back, and a spicy finish hitting the back of the throat which makes it seem a little dirty. Interesting. Fully into the mid third, I find it holding my attention. Not very complex from draw to draw, but I can sense changes from inhale to exhale. Overall, rather straightforward and a bit arid mid palate, it has remained quite spicy - very much so with a nasal exhalation. At midpoint, it's become a little more earthy, still somewhat buttery, with a spicy finish. A few non harsh green notes creep into the mix. I remain intrigued. Into the final third, it continues to become darker, more earthy. As I begin to compose an overall picture of this particular cigar, I feel it falls on the tannic side of things. Earthy tobacco, wood, nuts, dark spices, with no real sweet elements to speak of. Throughout, draws have started smoothly but ended hotly spicy - not harsh but tingly - like a mint without the refreshing aspect. Very smokeable but not integrated at this time. Score: 88 Comments: One to put away.
Ellery Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Just smoked one last wk, same thoughts, earthy and spicy. On the same page with you about letting them rest for a while. Great review.
paesano Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Nice job as usual. I can't wait for them to come out in the tubo. Thanks for the great review.
thechenman Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Colt...as always a very thorough review. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more.
bunburyist Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 arid....that's the word I was looking for when I've smoked these. Although not a negative, just makes it a bit unique and for me, an ideal outdoors smoke. Great smoke imo, poor value though. No better than a good Famosos, BRC or RASS imo.
bassman Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I've never been a Trinidad fan, but a buddy sent me two of these & I LOVED them. Sweet & earthy at the same time. First rate. Bought a 24 to put away & a 12 to smoke now.
Peacock Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I have a box resting. I am a bit of a Trinidad fan, and think the T is a good smoke now, but will improve.
Jimmy2 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Very surprised as the ones i have smoked are very complex showing many flavors from foot to cap ...I guess i got some real winners rating 92 with a higher rating down the road. Trini T is by far the best in the line up i think just a wonderful blend...
jkljkl Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I'm not too impressed with the T's. Could be becuase they're so young. JUN 09 bc. Out of the couple that I've tried, although the construction and draw were flawless, character and flavor were non-existent. Flat, dull, and papery. I'll try another next summer. I hope they find themselves.
cubanoamor Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Great review, thanks. Smoked it for the first time a few days ago, wasn't too impressed. Was waiting for that sweet spot. By no means a bad cigar just not my preference, hopefully it will get better over time.

mbrody Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 No respect? Ken backs your pallette, I, and a bunch others drop over $300 blindly on a box (based on your recos)! Pretty soon your going to be doing the "Live from the Humidor" Jimmy! And pick me a good box dammit!
micahzeff Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 After hearing such rave reviews, I picked up a single from the LCDH in Puerto Vallarta while on vacation last week. What a fantastic cigar, plan on picking up a box from the Czar with my next order.
