riderpride Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Greetings, As Christmas time approaches I've been looking for good, inexpensive cigars to hand out to guests (I know some righteous mooches) that smoke mabe a few times a year. To this point, I've sampled the following: RyJ Mille Fleurs Hoyo Palmas Extra Partagas Petit Corona Esp H. Upmann Majestic So far, I've found the Partagas to be the best, but it doesn't really show up untill the final third. Are there any other suggestions? Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
thechenman Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Personally...I prefer the RyJ Mille F'leurs more. Just my opinon though as some of my friends hate them.
samb Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Fonseca KDT Cadetes. Never had 'em, but they look like something that a less educated mooch would utterly blow a load in their pants to have. Good for you because theyre inexpensive and good for the mooch because they are Cuban, they come in very Cubanesque packaging, they have a nice Cuban sounding name (Fonseca), and finally, they are Cuban, the delicious forbidden fruit.

bunburyist Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 ps - it wasn't rob or smithy. Had assumed they were the ones who sold it to you in the first place.....

I've got a box. Give em to chicks sometimes and have the occasional one myself. Not too shabby for a 20min smoke and simple but pleasant flavour.
dicko Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 jose l piedra tasty basic cuban flavours. had mates who have enjoyed them and/or got into more serious cigars because of them

Colt45 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I think I have a slightly different outlook. If I were to bother giving someone a cigar, I'd probably go with something I enjoy as well. I wouldn't pour someone a different wine than I was drinking were they at my house, simply because they weren't much into wine. Truthfully, if they didn't really enjoy cigars, I'd rather not give any out. Having said all that, tubes do make a nice presentation, and good NCs are an option as well, which would help with the budget.
compitaveggie Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I would also look into cheap Tubo Cigars. The Upmann Corona Juniors cost about the same as well as a few other tubo cigars and the presentation much better. I gave away tubos when I returned from my trip to Cuba so that people that didn't want to smoke at that exact moment had something nice to keep the cigar in for a while. Jose

Colt, I do plan on smoking these sticks as well; I would never smoke something other than what I was handing out. Truth be told, I'd love to hand out a Parti 898 or a BRC (which are the norm), but I was laid-off a month and a half ago so capital is limited.

I think that many of us are having to pick and choose these days. I'm personally still trying to stick with the mantra of quality and enjoyment over quantity. Anyone for the new Behike?
samb Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 you have no idea how hard it was to bite my lip. I have a pretty good idea, lol. Sometimes its hard to listen to them. But then I feel like Im being arrogant about it and forgetting what smoking cigars is all about . Oh well, if they dont know, they shouldnt BS their way through.
