I'll jump on board with the Cohiba Siglo VI. I've had 6 or 7 of them over the last couple of years and just haven't been all that impressed. Maybe it's got something to do with the cost, but I can easily say I would rather have a Cohiba Robusto any day. In fact, I can think of a ton of cigars I'd rather smoke. That said, I've got 4 or 5 waiting in the humidor. Maybe I'll try one more this weekend with the family. Hey, even if they're not up to expectations, the family will think I'm a great guy for sharing.

this is all quite fascinating. and very much ranging from 'absolutely' to 'are you kidding'.

i wonder how much is down to size, ring band, house etc and how much to the actual smoke.

i can understand the m/c 2's though perservere. they are more variable than a smoke like this should be but good ones are good smokes.

lusi's!!!! probably enjoyed more lusi's than any other smoke. some can be a smidge pedestrian but never too bad but goodies, whacko.

the mag 46 - had my last from the home 'dor sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it - i know recent releases are coming around earlier but most require time and are worth the wait.

the recent sir winnie's - what happened? you must have got a dud. these are gold.

edmundo - i just bought one of the boxes from rob's HQ program as have always been a fan (unlike its dreadful little sibling, the petite ed). will leave them sit for a bit then report. finished my last one on the weekend, pre this box so the timing perfect.

cohiba sig XI's! if i could somehow concoct the experience of a good one - especially from those '03's - for colt and tampa and everyone else that has been disappointed, i'd love to see what they thought then. some of the best smokes i have ever enjoyed. i rather hope that in the mess in the boxes off in storage (and yes, you would think i would keep some sort of list), i still have a few, or better yet a box! if only. love to see rob's comments on these when he is back.

the fundadores. agree with this. for what is supposed to be a top smoke, those that i have had have always been a bit blah. don't recall ever having one that sand.

and colt, the SLR DC? next you'll be bagging bruce! that is a shame. i think i still have one or two of the 01's but buggered if i know where. if you guys ever get over, i'll try and find some goodies, even if i can't find the 01.

and i should add to my list of duds, anything cuaba (the recent LE the exception), especially the salamones. have tried these from all over and they aspire to blah. horrid, waste of time and money, wind tunnels.

RA Estupendos 3 boxes smoked a handfull from all three boxes and all extreme tight or totally plugged.

Never before had such an experience, but hard to tell the flavor when the cigar seems to be filled with cement..

RASS

Partagas SD4

Ive tried multiple attempts, even tried different pairings, but just couldn't get anything from them.

RyJ Churchill - of the 3 I've smoked, I would prefer smoking the Sunday morning paper.

SLR DC - I just don't get these. I've smoked one of these every year with my buddy Jase during the FOH SLR DC aging test and I've been disappointed with every one! If were not for the fact that I have abosulte faith in Jase, I would've suspected he had been slipping me well used TP to smoke.

Unequivocally the Bolivar Short Bolivar RE AP 2008. Now, of the Hoyo PR's and Montecristo PE's I have had some absolute beauties. I don't really mind the format. It has it's place in my cigar world, not a central one but it exists. But this crap of a cigar that Habanos threw together is the absolute worst cigar I've ever had...every time I've tried one...No Bolivar, wide open "wind tunnel" draw, tastes like the bottom of Prez's deck ashtray and carries a hefty premium price.

Habanos should absolutely be ashamed of themselves for putting this piece of crap on the market. I wouldn't pay a single dollar for these, and if I was gifted some, I would graciously accept and then cut them to shreds when I was alone. I'll be happy to hand these over to customs next time I roll through...and absolute travesty...

For the longest time I thought my answer to this sort of question would be anything HdM. They always seemed to me just too light to get any flavor out of at all. And then, just the other night, I pulled out an HdM Epi#1 I'd been avoiding for about 10-years and it was terrific. I guess I never gave 'em the right atmosphere... always trying to press 'em into service when I should have pulled out something stronger in the first place. Gotta' keep reminding myself, pick the right tool for the job.

I think the Cohiba Siglo III was somewhat of a disappointment given the high expectations for the marque.

I nominate the Juan Lopez marca in it's totality. I've tried multiple boxes of the Seleccion No. 1 and 2 that I've sold off, totally disgusted.

Bolivar Royal Corona never came up to expectations, but I haven't smoked more than a dozen so I really can't say more than that.

Partagas Shorts are simply horrible smokes when young. I have set aside a cab to see if anything good happens in ten years.

Boli RC are mostly eh!, RASS 50% hit 50% miss (when on, they are ON! baby), RASCC all I have tried are cardboard and I tried hard to like them, monte 4's were OK.

time to try lesser known smokes like Piggy says.

and definately time for smaller ring guages like Tampa says.

For me there are few flavors that I dislike but I'll go over them all:

RyJ: I don't like the sweetness I get from them. Even my favorite the short churchill the darker sweetness just isn't my thing. Its a shame that I love them so much!

Monte #4s <- Too variable and when they're on they're still thin... love the line, love the size, guess I need reservas

Cohiba Maduro line: <- The maduro says it all. I love maduros and I think cuba could make some excellent ones. They just need more practice as these are spottier than a um... well... there's a thai hooker joke in there somewhere. Good when good, shatty when shatty.

What a great thread. I would have to say the Bolivar PC and Bolivar Royal Corona. Mind you I have only had one box of the RC but plenty of PC's and just dont get em.

For me it would be the BBF. Tastes like dirt to me. I really want to like them and have tried them time and time again in the hopes of getting a positive experience, but it has not surfaced. Was thinking of moving on to the BRCs, but after reading much of the commentary here, I'm beginning to question it. Maybe Bolivar is just not my marca, but I need to experiment with more vitolas before making a defnitive conclusion.

Punch has never been kind to me.

second by R&J in general. some bright spots but nothing that grabs at me. Hopefully the dukes turn that around.

wow some eye openers around here,

Party 8-9-8's to me are the benchmark , and a hell of a stick

just goes to show different strokes....

For me, Bolivar Belicosos Finos. Never had one I considered good until a friend gave me one at a get together last May. That one was exceptional.

Monte #2 would be my second choice.

Amazing, some people list cigars that I love and some list cigars that have left me cold. My friend Roger loves Magnum 46 and i think they are tasteless. Although I often find cigars that I was not impressed with in the past are now my favorites and cigars I loved now leave me cold. Which brings me to the Monte #2. I recently finished a box in which some were of the best cigars I have ever smoked and some were totaly undistinguished, Does my taste change or is there a difference in the cigar? Beats the hell out of me!!!

Monty #4 and Monty #2 are the most popular Cuban cigars in the world. Millions must be produced annually to meet demand. This means that they are rolled and sold even when the perfect tobacco for the ideal blend may not be available. This accounts for their inconsistency.

Sir Winstons, by contrast (to name only one example) are rolled and sold only when the Cuban powers that be feel that the right tobacco for the blend is available.

I mentioned this in a post a week or two ago, but my 'don't go to' cigar has to be the R&J Short Church.

Looks cute, but my tongue always said 'yuk'.

Also still trying to get a grasp on Cohibas, if anyone has something that will

open my eyes, lemme know, be happy to trade.
