Tampa1257 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Rob, Since last summer when we met in Tampa, I have lost just over 40 Kilo's, 90 pounds to be exact. A lot of what everyone has been saying is true, cut the amount of what you consume, do not drink booze, exercise, etc. Yet so far no one has mentioned the biggest factor in my opinion to the success of losing the weight. Water I drink 1 gallon to 1.5 gallons of water a day, each and every day. For you, that would be 5-6 liters of water a day (Not Wine). The water flushes your system out, flushes the extra fat out of your system, flushes the pounds off. The water keeps your system full so you are not hungry. Part of your new exercise program is making it to the restroom in time for the pause that refreshes. It works, Drink the water and watch the kilo's drop off!

You must piss like a racehorse though...although, if you have wifi, just move into the bathroom!
rallones Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I'd recommend doing a lemonade fast. There are several products available out there, and you can Google a recipe to make the liquid at home. Basically, you drink a lemonade/cayenne pepper drink up to six times a day for three days. No solid food at all during that time. End the fast by drinking a quart of water with two tablespoons of uniodized salt. It will completely cleanse your system. On the fourth day, slowly start eating real food again -- raw vegetables, etc. It may take two or three days for your system to adjust to eating, so take it slow. Again, tons of tips on the internet about how to break a fast. I did this in April after my wife tried it. To be honest, the fast itself was a huge pain in the ass -- I was completely tired of the lemonade potion at the end of the third day. But I did lose about ten pounds, and I wasn't overweight by any stretch to begin with -- I was in pretty good shape, in fact. More importantly, though, the fast made me much more conscious of what I ate. I found that my sweet tooth cravings were not there. I actually enjoyed the taste of raw vegetables (broccoli and cherry tomatoes have remained my staple for lunch since completing the fast). As a longer-term solution, the fast made it much easier for me to eat healthier. I still love steak, hamburgers, pizza, etc. But my love of bread has dissipated considerably since completing the fast. Good luck.
SamuraiJack Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 This may sound lame, but when I want to lose weight I simple: eat less crap.
stargazer14 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I've never had a weight problem, but my buddiy does the Atkins thing every now and then to keep in line. Eats all the meat he wants along with nuts and such, and stays away from bread and beer. Still drinks the clear stuff, like vodka and seltzer and it all works great for him. He's a happy boy with a big steak.
Colt45 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 obese president what kind of pirate worries harden the f@#k up P.S. head cross the way for a colonic and a steam - you'll feel like a new man......
Jesuscookies Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 This is one of the most ridiculous threads I've ever seen on FOH. For God's sake, man, this is a cigar board. Seriously! Maybe a ****** wax would help get rid of some of the excess weight?
hsmunoz Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 P90X----Great workouts without buying a home gym and it really works. Knocks off pounds and tones the body. There is potential for muscle building. second this Rob, follow the diet and do the work. just need a chin up bar and some dumbells. I am at week 8 and have lost 12 lb . I am not obiese, so I am looking to tone and tighten. I am stronger too. ps, I eat dinner at six pm, smoke a cigar til 8 pm, and then do the workout. Life in Balance!! cheers henry
FireDigger Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 One word.... liposuction. j/k, I'd second running. Start off easy, do intervals.
BigGuns Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Here's the BEST KEPT SECRET to losing weight and apparently nobody has ever heard of it.Ready... Eat fewer calories than you burn in a day. If you want to eat more, move around more (ie exercise). If you don't want to move around more (ie exercise) then consume less. Pretty simple. If you get that down, the rest is easy Couldn't agree more. Of all the diet tips, special diets and all the other theories and bs floating around (not just here, but everywhere), this is the one nutritional fact/formula that I've never seen refuted. Plain and simple. Now, HOW do you do this? Easy - go get one of those athletic heart monitors (strap around the chest, wristwatch for reading/tracking) - good ones from $40-$100. You have to program it with your age, weight, and resting heart rate (not too hard, take your pulse when you wake up in the morning before getting out of bed or moving too much). Once calibrated, your monitor will tell you how many calories you are burning (through your normal routine, exercise, etc.). Now, take in less than that number and viola, you'll lose weight. And drink a ton of water.
Rogers72 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 As has been said cut down on Carbs and lower your daily calories. The Carbs that you do eat should be whole grain. No potatoes. No fried food. No candy/sugar. The few whole grain carbs that you do eat should be early in the day for breakfast and lunch. NO CARBS AFTER LUNCH. I would much rather cut out food than booze so I drink liquor or red wine as much as I want. Only mix the booze with water or diet cola...preferably water. Meal Examples: Breakfast: 2 pieces of whole wheat toast (no butter) OR Bowl of whole grain Cereal w. Skim OR a couple of eggs. Lunch: Turkey Sandwhich (no mayo) OR Whole wheat pasta w/red sauce and veggies Dinner: Chicken Breast w/ Veggies OR Salad topped with grilled Chicken w/ light vinegar dressing OR Grilled Fish w/ veggies Snack: Smoke a cigar w/ a glass of water/black coffee when you crave a snack during the day between meals. I would think you would have an easy time losing a little weight. If I had access to unlimited cigars all day then i would never have time to eat!
Ellery Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 You could go about this many different ways. If you want fad, then of course there is the Atkins, which works great. Bottom line...all diets do one thing and that is restrict your caloric intake, its up to you on how you do it. Good luck with it.
aavkk Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 seriously Rob, assuming this affiliate has great trainers you will need nothing more than the Zone diet and... http://www.crossfitbrisbane.com/ check it out and get back to me. It will change your life man, trust me. Both suggestions arent meant to be short term and if you do commit yourself I'll bet you dont quit.
PigFish Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 The real problem is marriage! Too much regular eating. Too little sex. Too little drinking. Too little smoking. The process of divorce will start things on the right foot! Or, you can just get your heart attack out of the way early like I did!!! Good luck my friend! -
Colt45 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I was sent this rap by someone calling themselves Big Crack-atoa K..... Doc says I'm fat, I disagree for the ladies to love, there's more of me Out on the dance floor, just watch me move belly starts to shake, belly starts to groove Once it starts movin' it can't be stopped don't even try, or you'll get dropped Out for a stroll, belly starts to jiggle men stare in awe, ladies start to giggle They're laughing with, and never at they're down with me, 'cause they know I'm phat I'm a heavyweight, in more ways than one so eff the doctor I'm havin' fun Livin' large in so many ways others try to keep up, leave 'em in a daze I'll never let up. I'm reachin' for the sky - Maximus Robusto 'till the day I die!
Ken Gargett Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 The real problem is marriage!Too much regular eating. Too little sex. Too little drinking. Too little smoking. The process of divorce will start things on the right foot! Or, you can just get your heart attack out of the way early like I did!!! Good luck my friend! - piggy, what the hell is that photo? and re the weight, congrats tampa. a number of doctors have told me that exercise is obviously vitally important but not so much in the losing of the weight. you've got to be doing serious amounts of exercise for it to have any worthwhile impact, far more than we are ever likely to do again (but it is extremely important in keeping healthy). the losing weight thing is simply eating less (and how easy that sounds but...).
BobLobLaw Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 There are two ways to go it. 1) Exercise more and 2) Eat/drink less. Doing both at once is probably the most effective and also the most difficult. Based on your wishes to still drink and smoke (which I assume leads itself to eating) I would go heavier on option #1. P90x or some some other structured program is a good way to start. Do the program every time you are supposed to. Men are competitive. Make a bet with someone. For example, the bet can be that you will not work out 5x per week over the next 10 weeks (50 workouts). You will find that there are many times you would take the day off, but cannot because you don't want to lose the bet. Its powerful motivation. Just make sure the stakes are enough that you want to win. Cut soda entirely. Lose 5-10 pounds. Yes, even diet I am not a nutritionist, but have seen the results. I do not know why it works, but it does. Water, and alcohol. Thats pretty much all I drink now! Drink a large glass of water 20 minutes before every meal. This will make you feel fuller and, therefore, eat less. Thats how I would start at least. . .
greenpimp Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 First of all I agree with Bob. Just how far have we fallen. Second, I started working out 4-5 times a week at the gym 10 months ago and have lost 20 lbs without changing my eating or drinking habits, and I was not "fat" before. (I eat very little processed food, no soda, etc.) Rob you love good food and wine like I do. I refuse to give up butter or steak or wine or cheese...etc. I just balance it with fresh veggies and lots of exercise. If you crash or fad your way to "healthy," you'll just end up back where you are now or even fatter. That old addage fast off, fast back on, is true. Just start working your fat ass out and make some minor alterations in quantity and remove processed foods. When you get there slow it stays off alot longer, trust me. I think 10 kg in 10 weeks is silly and a temporary solution, IMO, unless you are in dire medical straits.
Mel Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Cut off a foot mate guarantee you weigh less. You could loose the **** and balls if your married you ain't using them anyways.
kjellfrick Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 The easiest way to lose weight is to eat like a mouse and **** like an elephant, Rob! No exercise, it's so overrated! Personally, I rest myself into shape. Works fine! If you feel uncomfortable following this great advise, I'd suggest eating a little less every meal. Soon you'll be comfortable with smaller portions. And you'll slowly lose weight!
Cletus Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 The BikerFox Diet: "Basically in 1999, I starved myself to death for 3 or 4 months and rode my bicycle 25-65 miles a day. Did you know that water fools your body into thinking you have actually eaten something. Folks, you cannot gain weight from drinking water. Try it, it will work!" -BikerFox Who is BikerFox? His site is not for the faint of heart. Here's a little taste.
El Presidente Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 Thanks for the advice fella's (except Colt....and anyone who mentioned lots of exercise or reduction in drinking wine). Down a kilo already this morning. I am happy to put up a bet with Ken on a box of CORO (he can do equivalent in wine) that by Feb 11th I will be 92 kg (currently 100). Ken, you have to be 100 (currently 115)
BolivarSmoker Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 South Beach. I lost 14 pounds in two weeks. Smoked all I wanted and drank red wine in moderation (not really supposed to have alchohol in first two weeks but afterward you can - not beer though). This really works. It is about changing the sugar levels in you blood which in turn makes one over weigth (at least that's what the book said). I was turned down for life insurance because of my triglycerides. Went on the South Beach and in two weeks I went from 250 lbs to 236 lbs. Got tested again for life insurance and passed with flying colors. I have now lost 40 lbs total. If you stick with it and make yourself follow the rules it works.
