stargazer14 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Well had my 50th birthday this weekend, smoked some of my best sticks, drank a little too much for not enough hours, and got down to the bay for some striper fishing with my friend Pauly. Was a beautiful weekend. Other things in my life may be falling apart, but this weekend instilled in me even more - its how you look at it and how you react to it that makes all the difference. I'm ready for 50 more.
kjellfrick Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Congratulations to your first half century, Stargazer! Been there, done that, but my party got snowed in and no guests dared come! Btw, that's a fantastic setting in the photo!
rcsims Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Congratulations on your first half century!! What a location to spend your birthday weekend. That is a beautiful shot. I will be 48 in a few days. Nice to see the good times keep coming.
thechenman Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Congrats Stargazer on the Big 5-0. I'm coming up on the Big 4-0 in another year. Sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed the ocassion.
zuma Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Happy Birthday, and wishing you very many happy ones ahead! Oh... and that picture is just awesome!
stargazer14 Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 "What cigars did you smoke, sir?" Sir? Geez, it's starting already.... I enjoyed a few gars that had some time on them, including a D4, Siglo VI, Monti 2, and my peak was sitting by the fire on the porch of my favorite local inn, enjoying a Partagas Lusitania, which was VERY nice. A few hours of heaven. I am coming to the conclusion that Cohibas are just not my favorite, maybe I'm expecting too much, but I am just not getting the burst of flavor I desire. If anyone has a smoke they want to send me to change my mind, feel free! : ) Maybe one of those robustos will turn me on to the brand. All in all, a very relaxing, enjoyable weekend.
bassman Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Congrats, man. I turned 57 on the 8 NOV and still feel pretty young. Had a reunion of my old band & played bass 5 hours Friday & 7 hours Saturday. Music is what keeps me feeling young. As for Cohibas, try some 08 Siglo IVs and Vs. Great smokes.
stargazer14 Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 As for Cohibas, try some 08 Siglo IVs and Vs. Great smokes. Bassman - i DID have a IV onfriday, was from a 5pak bought last year, but I did not get the med to full flavor I am used to in my other smokes. It just seemed too mild to me. Was a bit creamy but i was left wanting more flavor. I'm not knocking the Cohibas, just havent had one yet that made me take notice. I'll certainly keep trying, and hope to smoke one with you soon!
anacostiakat Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Congratulations youngun! Here is to many more!!!
