Ryan Posted November 20, 2009 Author Posted November 20, 2009 Art becomes life. A football match between France and Ireland which spawned a spoof diplomatic dispute has spawned a real diplomatic dispute. Although of course this won't be a real row either. http://breakingnews.ie/ireland/taoiseach-t...all-435014.html At least it gets the real news off the front page for a while.
First Lady Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 I think it is so wrong being a soccer nut (I am Italian after all and my husband is Croatian) I can't believe the ref and the linesman didn't stop after everyone complained and think to look into the hand ball.. it is a serious accusation not to take any notice off. Anyway just another thing that will build up tension before the World Cup
Guibou Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 And yet, absolutely no one in the professional football world wants video referee like in rugby... Even in rugby, they barely manage to have a proper decision with the video (cf France vs. Samoan where 1- the french try from the forward is probably there but can't see anything with the video and 2- the Samoan try is clearly not a try 'cause we obviously see that the ball is 'slided' (?) and not 'touched down'...) Sorry to say but these stories in football are there to create over reaction and it works... 'Hand of God'... 'Hand of the Devil'... Wrong decision of a penalty quick given to Ireland vs. Georgia that made them into play-off and given them a second chance... After all it might be a marketing thing...
