stunod Posted August 31, 2015 Share Posted August 31, 2015 Funny, I was just posting last week that the 898's were inconsistent and average at best. The I break out a stick from a box of AUM Feb 14. Got them on a 24:24. Blew me away . Lush , can you you the word lush for a cigar. It was the best 898 I have ever smoked. But it's the 4th I've smoked from the box. Great burn and construction. Lovely vegetal, woody and earthy notes with some subtle creamy and pepper/spice on the tongue. Very nice... First stick was a custom Laguito No. 2 from Anthony...Cheers Anthony! Lovely cigar...nice dark wrapper with a pigtail cap makes for a great presentation. The draw was a bit tight but it had plenty of smoke output and a slight sweetness that made it very enjoyable. 38 ring is a little smaller than I normally prefer but overall it was a very good smoke. Second smoke was a R & J Short Churchill. It proved to be a bit of a wind tunnel which made the smoke dryer than I'm accustomed to with this cigar. Still had the characteristic cherry flavors but not as dominant as the previous samples I've had. *****, *****, *****...I make it sound as if I had a couple of duds but that's not the case at all. I'm just sharing my impressions of the evenings smokes. Had plenty of good Rum, Diplomatico, and wonderful company. I feel very blessed to be able to participate in this wonderful cigar indulgence and to share my experiences with fellow BOTLs! Have a great week everyone... Cheers!
