H. Upmann Lonsdale from 2002

Very nice intense and typical H. Upmann aroma. Medium body, yeast, brioche dough, delivate roast and toast flavours and loads of clean tobacco. Perfect friend of a Gin Tonic (Monkey 47, Tonic 1724, thyme sprig)

For a daily cigar I smoke RyJ Mille Fleurs,Flor de Cano selectos,Hoyo coronations.

These are "first of the day" sticks,to wake my palate.

My second rotation includes Quay,Monte 3,Boli pc,Sancho pc.

I save the big hitters for my weekly get togethers and after dinner weekend smokes.

The really old stuff is for special occasions,anniversary,birthday,holidays.

A truly hot summer day at 32 C - relaxed reading more old books and sipping on Mulata 7 while having another excellent Bolivar 5-ta Ave 109 after dinner.

Tomorrow it's "back to the roots" night - cigar dinner at the Mainz Hyatt Regency, so back on memory lane ... they stopped the "Smoke & Dine" dinners a few years back and are re-starting them again, we'll see.

EOG CCUD 7/99 Partagas Perfecto

My package arrived that included a Box of these cello wrapped, machine made Marcas from 7/99.

Have to say I got a score as they are very much alive. Great spicy Partagas tobacco flavor from the get go. Very enjoyable secondary aroma according to Wifie. Leather, earth, coffee, with a bit of sweetness on the palate. At 100chf for this vintage Box, it was a great purchase!

Near perfection achieved. Big Rock brewery's Saaz republic pilz, and an H Upmann Mag46 from '11, and 30 degree weather. All on a holiday Monday! post-13208-13781588436381.jpg

Wicked angle. Well captured. Love the sky. Very dark blue.

A very nice Trinidad Fundadore 2005. Only several left from the box and they have been very good with the classic grassy core along with plenty of espresso and creamy, vanilla notes in the background. They're still on the fuller to medium side and have more years ahead of them. I doubt I'll be able to hang on for too much longer.

@Rye: cool pic as always.

Did a comparison this night; all in the name of science: La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No. 2 from 1998 vs. La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No. 1 from 1998 as well.

Very consistent apart from the differences in ring gauge. Very intense licorice sirup core with plenty of spice left. Very unique. Full bodied and full flavored. Perfect balance in terms of sweetness, bitterness, acidity, saltiness and even umami. Very long and mouth coating finish on both sticks as well. These are really outstanding. Though the No. 1 needs a lot of concentration and discipline to show its real class; is ruined easily if one is greedy. The No. 1 might be a bit earthier especially in the first two thirds the No. 2 is creamier right from the start. Both end in heavenly creaminess...A shame that these are not produced anymore.
