An RE Friday with @Nate Chu C&C for a Saturday morning with this Sir Winston from 03. Today is going to be great if this cigar is anything to judge it by. What a super smooth star

First cigar of the year.

C&C ‘14 especiales. Fantastic start to the day C&C with a Monte 4 C&C time today with a Perla picked up from 24:24

Working in the garden today? :)

No not quite I do seal coating (applying a black asphalt based layer of tar) for a summer job (part of my father's asphalt paving business) and I smoke after work when my hands are still dirty

'12 Party short from a cab (first party short). Every time I smoke a partagas I really want to enjoy it but I just can't seem to jive with the Marca for some reason.

Just smoked one tonight also from a '12 cab. It was decent at best. I agree with you about partagas... Not sure what to think anymore.

Same here - that's why the only Partagas I have in my posession are a few D4s.

Quintero Nacionales with the last of the Ron Quorhum QRM Anniversario 30 rum.

Something simple today since I was out earlier on lunch followed by a mini herf with Matt and Scott who was visiting from Perth.

My white ashtray broke over the weekend. :(

Ive tried a lot of d4s and the only ones that I really liked were from an 08 10 count box. If I could get close to how good that cigar was id get 5 boxes to put away.

I've got a Jun 2008 "PUB" 25-box I still have a handful of singles rolling around in, as well as a few 15-pack boxes of tubos from Jun 2009 "TGU". Both have been quite good now with some years on them, and I'm slowly savouring them here and there. Any D4's that I've got since 2010 have been so-so in comparison to those, and likewise, while I always have at least a 10-box of P2's in my humidor, those haven't been really grooving for me lately either.

Aside from good Lusi's and 898's, Partagas offerings seem to be spread too far and wide with too much variance in recent years, a la Montecristo. Unless I find truly epic boxes of the above while on my searches down in Cuba, I'm not buying anything from these marcas now aside from hand-picked PSP examples from Czar's.

This guy

Your doing it right

Very good, not 50 dollars good (was from 2007 OR). I'd rather spend the money on more boli china)

This cigar is one of my "white whales". I've been offered to group-buy a few singles here and there, or a whole box of the OR ones a few years back. I'd still love to take that leap one day.

But it seems that many have this same reaction. While I love my Montes, it seems that with these ED's there's lots of variances (not unlike regular Monte releases). Seems they're either well loved or just blah.

So.....it may just remain a white whale. The fun sometimes in always in the chase, and you can sometimes be disappointed with the catch. Imagine if dogs were able to actually catch a car now and again....where would the fun be in that?!?!! LOL.

Quai Corona MUR MAR 13

Colorado wrapper color

Initial puff is fresh tobacco w a hint of sweetness

Extremely fresh but not necessarily a bad thing in this instance

Ash so far is bright Grey in color

Solid Medium in profile compared to previous Quai Coronas I have had

Construction is perfect, dry boxed for a day b/c it was still a little wet

Historically I prefer Quai w age such as ERDM, LGC, etc but this was a treat

Tea, sweetness and fresh tobacco make predominant flavors in first 1/3

Burn a little wonky due to the wetness but nothing to sweat

Some grass, tannins and fresh tobacco in 2/3 w a little less sweetness

Cigar is very smooth for such a young cigar in first 2/3

In the last 1/3 the cigar shows its youth w a lil more harshness but thats expected w a cigar this young

Overall this was a very pleasant cigar and enjoyable! I could definitely smoke these now and IMHO these have legs down the road

Bart

No pics (mine always come out too small - maybe someone can tell me how to post pics the same size as everyone else's).

Anyway, celebrating an unspecified birthday today, I started with a 2005 Partagas SdC No. 1 with morning coffee.

2006 R&J Short Churchill A/T after lunch.

Preprandial RA Estupendos with New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon and Dragon's Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout.

La Aurora 100 Anos Robusto with Zacapa XO to wrap. All in all not a bad day enjoyed with fine food, beverages, smokes, friends and family!
