CBL Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Tuesday a friend came over and we had a little BBQ and a long day of big cigars. I started with a Cohiba Pyramid EL 2006 that he gifted me for my birthday 2 months ago, while he smoked a Cohiba Pyramid Reserva. Both Cohibas were pretty fantastic, nice and mild, mine had some grassy notes in the middle, but only a reasonable finish. First couple of puffs were transcending though. After a quick ice cream break we both had Ramon Allones Estupendos that I brought over from Asia a couple of years ago, which lacked some complexity. My friend's had a tough draw, mine had just enough resistance to still be enjoyable. After a large meal from the grill, some coffee and tiramisu I made we had the Partagas Serie D Especial EL 2010, which had a perfect construction, strong coffee notes at the start and a substantial sweetness at the back of the throat. Fairly sharp burn despite the thick, dark EL wrappers. Nice enough, but I remember them being more enjoyable when they first came out. Hoping a couple of years will steer these back to greatness, but right now I don't think I'll touch this box again soon. More pictures on my Instagram feed.

CaptainQuintero Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Monte #3 from 06 god these are such an under rated cigar, rich cream, raisins, vanilla then a dusting of coco, no idea how 4 HQ boxes are still available from LFTH right now The uglier the better with these too it seems, this one is sickly looking, pale and blotchy, one of the best cigars of 2013 still

Habana Mike Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Enjoyed a nice RyJ PC for breakfast, cracked into a cab of the '06 RA Estupendos this afternoon, smoking quite well at the moment to my taste though I've heard others have had less than ideal experience with these - perhaps got lucky for a change. Smoking a WIde Churchill with a G&M bottled Mortlach 15yo just now, again a very nice cigar. Not a bad day at all.
