I did get some peanut flavour in there, but to be honest I'd have to let it rest some more to give a better chance. Think it needs some time to acclimate a bit. The construction on this was however good and i had a relatively even burn and the ash held quite well. 2

It's Caol Ila turned up -- tastes like a cask strength official bottling. I need to sit down with it in a couple weeks and really take some notes to form an opinion beyond "it's really good". It's my second "Old Particular". My first was the Ledaig 12 hogshead. Now that's incredible and complex. And still in stock at K&L. Everyone went for the 15 sherry butt which i'm sure is great, but that 12 is worth picking up!

Popular Post Glass Half Full Posted October 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 4, 2022 Happily home after a bit of an odd trip; all good in the end, for everyone involved, I believe. (Charleston got lucky with late wobbles in Hurricane Ian. Thinking of all the folks in Florida and Puerto Rico ...and Turks and others. These past few weeks look to have been really, really rough for those severely affected by the storms. (My family and I have been through a Cat 5, and eventually made it through, able to build back. I don't wish that on anyone.) Boli Royal Corona (2014 tubo I'd held for quite some time). Hoping for the best for any and all who are rebuilding however huge the challenges. 23

Popular Post Ncafritz Posted October 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 4, 2022 (edited) Tried my first CoRo today, was a little disappointed as it was a bit light on flavor. Still a nice cigar on a perfect afternoon. Hard to complain! I have a few more, hopefully those will be more flavorful! Popular Post williamthewolf Posted October 5, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 5, 2022 Smoked my first NC ever today. Illusione Epernay Le Ferme. Was afraid even despite its lack of ligero it would still knock my socks off. Did the opposite. Zero power. And to me zero flavour. Maybe some sweet smoke… that’s about it. I threw it out after the half way mark when some citrus kicked in. Not for me I regret to say. Wanted to like it — and the cigar itself smelled promising out of the humidor. Oh well! Luckily had a $1 Cohiba Club in my pocket to save the day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 17

The tire looks really narrow for some reason. could be a filter or just my old man eyes. Just curious. 2 hours ago, williamthewolf said: Smoked my first NC ever today. Illusione Epernay Le Ferme Ah man, that's a bummer. I have smoked a lot of those and while I have had some really excellent experiences with that smoke ( I also like that vitola) there have been some real milk toast paper tasters. I'm sure youre partial to Cubans, but I might respectfully recommend a joya de nic Numero uno as something that's similar to what that epernay should have been. Or.... Maybe try another epernay, or a haut 10. As a recent convert to CCs I admit they seem to the best. But there's some non cc stuff that's certainly worth smoking. 3

Very much appreciate the recommendations. I'm truly hoping to find a good NC once in a while. I have one more of the Epernay and also a couple Singulare from them. I"ll look into the Joya Numero Uno and the Haut 10 as well. So many NC's out there and I'm sure there a at least a few I'll really enjoy. Will update here again when I smoke another! Hopefully will be better.
