Floral and savoury with the cured meat edge I love in these things. Unfortunately, a very tight draw, and one that got worse as I smoked. Hard work! Coffee and cream, lemon grass (very evident), and some marzipan and light spice at back end. Glad I had this one tonight with a break in the cold weather. Solid BSM NOV 19 Coloniales and a very good Escogidos MSU AGO 19. The Escogidos definitely is a change of pace in the HDM marca, more coffee, hazelnut, wood and cream. But perfect draw and a lot of smoke. Second smoke of the evening is a H Upmann No2. Very rarely does a young box make me think ‘they are great, smoke them all now’. Subtle resinous woody furniture sweetness, rich in flavour, under medium body at the start but building significantly. I’m terrible with tasting notes but all I can say is it was sort of plain. Construction was beautiful, burned perfectly, nice draw. It’s just that nothing stood out. Maybe it’s because it’s cold outside, not sure. Couldn’t think of another cigar I’d compare it to. I’ll try another when I get back inside at our club to see if it’s different.
