Partagas Short from the same EGT ABR 20 box I’ve been smoking. Had 9 or 10 of them before this one and they’ve all been pretty standard and decent for what they are. That was until this one. Started off okay but became harsh and acrid. I think I’m going to put these away for a while. The Party was fun while it lasted [hardy har har 🥸].

I’ll stick to the big boy Partagas for the foreseeable future.

First Monte #2 of the year, and it’s a cracker. SMA NOV 18 and smoking really well: the classic cocoa and cream on full display. So good that I sat in fine drizzle for a good half hour with it. Bloody London weather.

HDM Epicure No.2 ABO ABR 19

H.Upmann Magnum 54 OER MAY 20 after a 2 mile run and some leftover ribeye from last night. I have a box of mag 46 from 2016 that are pathetic. So glad I chanced these and the 50s which have been very good.

PSD4 today from OMS JUL 15, an aged release from gracious host. Good lord these have been fabulous, wish I had more than a sixer. Nice even burn. Just enough rich breadiness left, but a below-medium bodied smoke now. I enjoyed this whilst working through a detailed action plan with colleagues on Teams. Camera off for politeness… but I’m sure this fine cigar helped my concentration and creativity!

I’ve never had one much older than six or seven years. I should put some away! I expect to have Lusi’s that are 10+ though, eventually.

Over the first five years I see quite a big reduction in strength (nicotine), less bitterness, and perhaps less funky bready richness too. Smoother, more refined and integrated. Not absolutely necessarily better though, perhaps a bit more middle of the road.

Today’s smoke was an LGC MD’O#4 from Jan 2017. Great looking little stick, and excellent complex flavours. Floral and savoury with the cured meat edge I love in these things. Unfortunately, a very tight draw, and one that got worse as I smoked. Hard work! Still worthwhile, but you have to assume 1/3 of these skinny little #4s are tight.

Don’t know how those posts merged… the lagavulin is the distillers edition diageo (I believe) releases each year. I have 5 years of Oban. Supposedly a special bottling. I love lagavulin so I always grab when I see
