Popular Post smbauerllc
2014 QDO Imperiales Outstanding! A solid medium with a thick, rich, smooth, balanced taste and not a hint of that "aged" or musty taste I start getting a little of around this age. No idea how they were young, but 7 years later they are just awesome. Probably one of the best aged smoke, or any smoke for that matter, I have ever had. Would definitely scoop up more of about this age if I could. Avoid Syncro Nicaragua Toro Pretty good taste. A little on the fuller side than I prefer. Excellent draw and burn. Unsure on construction as the entire wrapper started to come off immediately after cutting, and there was plenty of cap left. Required a fair bit of glue to repair. Overall, this one just isn't really for me.

Popular Post Puro_Lover83
A few recent smokes. All very tasty, especially the Supreme Leaf. I’m also a fan of the NC San Cristobal - particularly this Revelation and their Quintessence. Of course, the SP had all those woody and salty flavors that are typical.

Popular Post ReturnFreeRisk
UEB 2017 Mag 50 from a box that’s switched on right now. Kilchoman has officially become my favorite Islay. Their sherried offerings are really top shelf worthy. This one is a special selection from a scraped, toasted recharred red wine barrel that’s just as great. Made some hoppin john with a burger on the grill. Followed up with a Du Depute. Great evening. Popular Post karp
Upmann Mag 46, 2020 I think… from a quarter FOH PSP or HQ a while back. I liked it overall, toasted tobacco and strong licorice. Some coffee. Unusual. Question for experienced members: how does this change with age? Does it get more creamy? It’s not woody or tannic, but I wonder about the flavour… not a typical Upmann - no almond / shortbread in this… How does it develop with time? I love the vitola, so am wondering if I should get a box to age.

The stronger Upmanns such as the sadly departed HU Petit Corona, Upmann No.2 and Magnum 46 are not really known for almond/shortbread flavours when young. With age, you may not get those characteristics either. You may get a creamy texture developing but you will need a lot of time. If you are looking for this, then age another H.Upmann vitola like the Connoisseur No.1, for example (Then again, maybe don't as they're excellent already with a year or two on them). If you were to age this 2020 H.Upmann Magnum 46 the one characteristic that you'd likely find coming to the fore, whilst those espresso coffee and licorice flavours recede, would probably be leather. 9

Thanks for the info! Leather is not what I would hope for, the liquorice taste is aromatic and reminds me of Punch cigars. Do you think the Connie 2 would be a balance of the Connie 1 and this flavour? If the liquorice from the Mag 46 dies down, I am not sure I would like this aged...
Popular Post Bigpink
Started the day with a Connie 1, ended it with a Mag 46! Had my third Monte 2, and I think they’re just too mild for my taste. It’s a beautiful looking and smelling cigar, but the flavors and amount of smoke leaves me wanting. Live and learn!

If the liquorice from the Mag 46 dies down, I am not sure I would like this aged... We need to remember that we are talking in generalisations here so what I am about to add...well, put it this way, it's a wholly subjective statement based on my own experience that may not match other members. As a result, I wouldn't have an issue with anyone feeling differently. Anyway, what we need to look at here is the propensity of Magnum 46s smoked within this thread and what age members smoke them. In other words, how often do members post on this thread that they smoke a Magnum 46, and what type of Magnum 46? (I.e. young..less than 2 years, mid-range say 3 to 5 years, or aged perhaps 5 to 7 years and older) I would advocate that the majority of our members smoke H.Upmann Magnum 46s young as a preference, although there are some (experienced members) I've noted that smoke them with significant time down, such as 10 years or more. It goes without saying that a 10 year old Magnum 46 is a whole different 'animal', so-to-speak, than a young Magnum 46. If you are not inclined to want a leather profile than you can set aside maybe 5 or so Magnum 46s for long-term rest (as in 3 to 5 years) and see how they are developing by smoking one every six months or so. Then you can decide for yourself what suits your needs if you need to age further. The main thing to remember with aging cigars is that young or aged is often not a matter of comparisons when it comes to cigars you enjoy, rather, it's usually a matter of difference. As an example, for me personally, what I mean by this is that a cigar such as the San Cristobal de la Habana El Principe is different for me at twelve months, three years and five years but I like them all for their differences. I don't favour one stage over the other. Therefore, I can accept that if one likes young Magnum 46 over aged varieties, it's probably unlikely that you'd hate an aged one with the same fervour that some people like or hate Cohiba. Remember to keep that in perspective. I'm mindful too of this long reply within this thread. Whilst I'd imagine there's a number of members that would appreciate reading this short essay I am also sensitive to other members who want nothing more than to peruse the pictures at the end of a hard day's work. PM any time @karp and I will assist in any way I can in regard to specific queries such as this one. 15

Popular Post smbauerllc
Tatuaje Havana VI Almirantes Churchill Extremely tasty, just like I have come to expect from Tatuaje. Excellent draw, burn needed 1 correction. Construction-wise, as soon as I cut it, and there was plenty of the cap left, the entire wrapper came loose. Took a fair bit of gluing to fix it, which is why I always cut, test draw and use a draw tool if needed on my cigars at least an hour before smoking so in case it needs some glue, it has time to dry. Everything worked out fine though and it was a very enjoyable hour smoke The Leaf Cameroon Cuban Corona Extremely tasty. A little spice upfront with with a unique main flavor I can't describe, and some sweetness in the aftertaste. Perfect draw, burn and construction Overall I really good smoke. Really enjoyed the unique taste Tatuaje 10th Anniversary Bon Chasseur Excellent taste.. just a tad milder than most of the other Tatuaje's I have had. Very smooth, rich smoke Perfect draw, burn and construction All around excellent cigar. Glad I have 2 more
Popular Post williamthewolf
Been on a kick trying new short cigars partially bc I’m tying to save this ‘18 box of D6. Well. Had to have one last night. Didn’t disappoint. Taste was spot on and construction was incredible. I was at a very, very dark bar and didn’t do my best job lighting it but it evened out and it kept its ash up til the band when I knocked it off. Now I remember how much I love this cigar. Absolutely satisfying little smoke! Hope the rest are this good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
