HDM Double Corona

Great taste and perfect burn, but

Draw and construction however were amongst the worst I have ever had.

Cold draw had no airflow at all, and the first run with the super skinny Perfecdraw tool caused 2 very large, deep cracks near the middle it was rolled so tight.

Even with 2 more runs, plus 2 with the Modus II only opened it up a little bit.

Patched the cracks by gluing a large piece of wrapper over them an draw and smoke volume were still terrible.

An extremely frustrating and disappointing cigar, especially for one I was anticipating so much.

One of my worst cigar experiences so far in 15 years.

Two nice recent smokes. Punch Punch from a magic box, UTE SEP 16 and down to the last three or four. Goddamn these have been great. Mild but full of kinky sweet flavour, like juicy fruit gum. Perfume and incense. These were graded as PSP and when I got them I thought: really? They didn’t look amazing. But… the man was right.

Then E2 from another magic box, MSU JUN 18. Also from here, also PSP. Total eye candy these, and every one great so far. This one though had a surprise in store and started off all fine and smooth and E2ish then turned into a rambunctious old school Partagas, kind of out of nowhere. Delicious. Unexpected. Fun in the September London sun, bring it on, bring it on.

Yeah, just really sucked since it was my first Cigar of the day, and I had such high expectations and was really looking forward to it as it seems to be considered the best HDM from what I've read on various forums.

Was hoping it would start my day off on a high note like I always try to do, but it was just a terrible experience for my first and only one of these and for a first Cigar of the day

Thankfully, I have always had good luck with the draw being great with torpedoes, piramides and belicosos, which is good as I'm a sucker for them and buy everything in those vitolas whenever possible

Outstanding taste and perfect draw,burn and construction. Only issue was the wrapper peeled a little bit in the last third, but no big deal.

Will definitely be buying more of these, especially for $7ea
