First smoked chuck roast doesn’t hurt either. Saw a recipe so I’m giving it a shot.

2 tri-tips tomorrow. Was told it was like brisket. We shall see. If not it will be a brisket Sunday. 😬

Nice RAT MAY 20 PLMC. Coffee, cream, nuts and a little caramel.

PLMC (date/code unknown). Like @Kaptain Karl, I’m getting coffee and cream, but no caramel, instead somewhat of an anise flavor on the retro.  Paired with an espresso martini, a request from the Mrs.  a little sweet for my liking, but the coffee flavors go well together.

Just started exploring ER's fairly recently and have never seen that one.

Wasn't even aware that there was a QDO ER honestly.

Love the QDO 50, will be trying my first 54 this evening in a comparison test after having a 50 for my morning smoke.

Also have an Imperiales from 2014 I have been saving for a special occasion also

Guessing those are one of the pricier ER's out there...

Did you smoke that whole box that fast?

A quick Google search shows a release date of june 23rd, so pretty recently released.

I imagine they are almost impossible to find this early.

You got lucky being able to go to the release party. That would be a very cool experience

No I have two in my collection and one today! The box was gifted to me by my shop they had one box for the whole of Cyprus. Hoping they will have more boxes soon!

QDO 50

extremely tasty, a little on the miler side, perfect draw,burn and construction.

Have only had a few of these out of the fiver I had bought.

They seem nearly impossible to find lately so I have been going through them slowly as who knows when I will be able to buy more at this point.

Doing a little experiment as I have never been able to get an answer from anyone I asked, about how the 50 and 54 compare as far as taste.

Everyone I have asked always said that they had only had one or the other, not both.

So I smoked this 50 as my morning Cigar and will have a 54 this evening to compare the two.

QDO 54

Extremely tasty and good draw and construction. Burn was a little off the whole time but not by a lot really.

Definitely a solid medium, and maybe even a medium-full as it progressed

Overall I definitely really enjoyed it and will definitely be buying some whenever I can find them in stock somewhere.

As to comparing the taste of the 50 and 54, I can't really say it's even a little similar to me, but I think the large difference in strength between the two is a big part of it.

The 50 is very mild and subtle to me, while the 54 really jumped out at me.

I honestly didn't enjoy one more than the other either. If I'm in the mood for something mild, I'd pick the 50, for something a fair bit stronger, the 54.

Which means I'll have to wait and buy both when they can be found.

LFdC Selectos

My first of these

Very tasty, and especially so in the second half where a nice, unique undertone I can't describe developed.

Cold draw was virtually nonexistent. Had a pretty big plug near the middle, but the PerfecDraw took care of it for the most part.

Burn was excellent and other than the plug, so was every other aspect of the construction was fine.

Definitely a very good smoke for the price. Definitely added to my bookmarks to buy again.

Been a little over a year since I visited an N3. The time has done wonders. Smoking beautifully now.

Cohiba Coronas Especiales SOP JUN 20

Enjoyed the day after arriving and slightly underfilled. The result is mostly toasted tobacco and ash. Will try again after 60 days but probably let them rest another year.

 

EDITED TO ADD:

Finishing up now. Just a mediocre cigar, but promising signs. Definitely just a matter of letting them rest a year or two.
