dicko Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 h upmann magnum 50. 1st third was GREAT, underlying fruit, woodyness, white pepper through nose, medium bodied. then it alll went wrong, hit some massive underfilling (my nemesis atm) and way too wet (my fault for smoking OTT). had to pitch after halfway. anyway, hope next one is better because that 1st 3rd was great. juyst finishing a cohiba maduro secretos from the czar singles - havent had a cracker in a while, this is a stunning cigar! out of my price range but very happy ive got a couple to try. good luck to you if you have boxes of these :-)
dicko Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Have to agree with the Cohiba Secretos, tried one a couple of weekends ago. The next week I managed to pick up a box for a good price - they will be smoked VERY occasionally, so I can still enjoy them in a few years too! Nice haul Bster!
JoshMP Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 PLPC at work today. Took me 4 hours to finish it, dratted customers always interrupting me trying to give me their money! Beautiful flavors, cool, sweet, hay like aroma with a very clean, grassy after taste. Always a winner.
dcse Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Since last Friday: - Cohiba Piramides LE 2006 - a great cigar - Rodolfo shaggi custom blend - most enjoyable - PL Magnifico RE UK 2007 - Started with a tight draw. I guess using a punch cutter didn't make it easier, but usually the choice of cutter do not impact on the overall experience. Had to work hard through the first third. Then used a two-blade cutter and let the cigar rest for some seven minutes. WOW. The next 90 minutes was spent in heaven. - Davidoff Salomones. A different animal altogether. Started off as a very powerful cigar. After the first 30 minutes or so the profile changed completely. A more balanced and creamy cigar surfaced and sent me to cigar heaven for a fantastic ride. The only NC I have fully enjoyed (since I started the slippery slope into the world of CC).
lemmycaution Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 A plugged Sir Winston. I haven't had a plugged cigar in a such a long time that I forgot how frustrating is.
thechenman Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 A plugged Sir Winston. I haven't had a plugged cigar in a such a long time that I forgot how frustrating is. I get pugged Sir Winnies from time to time as well. Actually I have the same experience with the Monarchs also. But the Sir Winnie when on, more than makes up for the occasional plugged one.
MIKA27 Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Last night I tried for the first time a Partagas serie D 5 EL 2008. What a power house of a cigar, a little too strong for me however I must say I really enjoyed this cigar, full of flavour, heavy, rich, chewy and thick smoke. The taste on the wrapper was both sweet and salty. The only downside was that this cigars draw was a little tight which meant around 2/3 through, I started getting hit hard by the nicotine as I was smoking this a little harder than I would have liked to. I'd happily grab some more.
Gumball Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 A plugged Sir Winston. I haven't had a plugged cigar in a such a long time that I forgot how frustrating is. Same thing for me yesterday evening, it was a gorgeous looking sample from Czar but unfortunately I had to throw it away... I will try again...
Habanos2000 Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Cohiba Sig VI in the backyard yesterday to kick off the long weekend. A perfect example of Cohiba, smooth, creamy, med-med full, even burn all the way thorugh. A solid 90.
Miami101 Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Wow those where the days 3 cigars! I only have time to smoke HDR shorts. I had a box of Monte shorts they left my humi five months ago.
dicko Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 bolivar coronas gigantes. 2 and a half hours of pleasure!!
Guest rob Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 I smoked the cigar I was planning to have tomorrow - a Punch Double Robusto from the 2006 PCC Regional Release program. It's a pretty decent smoke... but nothing that rocks my world with brilliance. Though every now and then there were small serves of brilliance that only lasted a minute or so.
samb Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Pimpin' sweet Diplo 5 at work while watching the sun go down into the looming thunderheads.
MIKA27 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Last night I braved the cold and enjoyed a HDM DC. What can I say other than that I enjoyed this, my last DC so I must buy some more.
JoshMP Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Partagas Serie D Especial. Think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if it'd had the prerequisite "30 days sitting time". I will smoke another again in a month!
lemmycaution Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Yesterday I smoked a Lusitania(TEB08). Lusi's have been a one of a kind experience for me-the look, the feel, the taste. I pretty much love everything about them.
bassman Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Here's one you don't often see- 03 Sancho Panza Coronas Gigante.
JMacSr Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 This morning a Dip #5 , Right now the J Fuego Delerium Corona
MIKA27 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Yet again, braving the cold weather of late, I enjoyed a COHIBA Secretos last night from Czars, a great cigar, smoked beautifully!
OZCUBAN Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 My last was the ever dependable H Upman Mag 48 simply delicious Since having to smoke out side its bloody cold at the moment so it is the perfect size cheers Oz
samb Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 From Montego Bay, a Jamaican Heritage. Light bodied, and in no way complex. But the construction is good, so theres that.
Aficionado Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Exactly now in my hands smoke H. Upmann Conn1 and I am still very impressed. Fantastic -Power of Love. This stick its for free, from my best Ausi owner cigar vendor. Guys this man its...good man.
dcse Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I enjoyed a custom blend shaggy DC, contemplating on the overall status of custom blends. Should they be considered cuban if the cuban roller rolled them in London, Hamburg or Paris? How do we distinguish between the different rollers regularly on the road offering custom blends? Are they the very best Havana has to offer? Would it make sense for Trevor to include some kind of list of the most prominent rollers and their standard vitoles on his fantastic website? Really deep stuff, as you can see
khomeinist Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Celebrated my 99th (or the prelude to...) in some style. Plpc with a few glasses of Eagle Rare bourbon. Por Larranaga and a dark, rich bourbon...excellent. Followed up by a Cohiba Corona Especial and Remy Martin. This morning? Aspirin and black coffee.
