dicko
grubby boli royal corona (A/T tubos)...had 2 good ones out of a 10 count box. getting the non-tubed next time. Am I being suspicious thinking they think they can get away with putting average cigars in the tubes because you can't see them??!
Joker
Just finishing smoking my first Monte Edmundo (one of a variety of cigars I ordered from Robs 'Mix & Match Premium Sampler a few weeks ago). Must say this has ticked all the right boxes for me. Typical Monte flavours - choc with slight spice, hard to explain but very well rounded flavour with depth, no harshness. Glorious plumes of smoke - smells and flavours come together beautifully Have tried Monte 2 but found them to be too strong for my liking (maybe higher level of nicotine ??) Rob, thanks for the recommendation - would love to know if this is typical for the Edmundo or only to the PS level? As they say - do yourself a favour !!! Happy smoking Joker
LeafLover
Boli PC. The experience reminded me of why I love smoking CC's, and cigars in general.

Smoked 3 of 10 and have decided to put the rest away for a while. They seem to have potential but perhaps they are just too young yet. Wicky
yep same month. I have mostly had trouble with underfilling, have you found the same? the one or two which were good were excellent. bloody inconsistency! lol cheers Looking over my notes on the Boli RC Tubos. Julio '09 (Yes, I'm actually paying attention to flavors now!) Compiled from 3 cigars.. The wrappers are lovely. Bordering on maduro. Motteled with a nice sheen. The cigar is a little rough in construction. Some soft spots. Burn wasn't great. Some tunneling and uneven. Underfilled. Started spicy through the nose, then buttery dark chocolate flavors. Cinnamon. Got hot and soured towards the end. I'm guessing with time these will improve. At least a little.

Wicky
RASS cedary, leathery. little 'dry', maybe slightly underfilled. solid 88 Now.. concerning the RASS. Man... this has been one of my go to favorites for years. I don't have alot of notes on this box (March '08) because it wasn't very noteworthy! It pains me to say it. On opening the box I thought "Brilliant!" These were beautiful cigars with all the aroma with a red solid wrapper and bits of bloom. But I was fooled. Bottom line... they were thin and lacking core. Grassy and dry with hints of rubbing alcohol ( yep, isopropyl!) and harsh on the tongue. They seemed to me like mediocre tobacco in a top drawer wrapper. Go figure. Maybe with time? Do you think it might have something to do with on going box fermentation? On appearance alone these cigars should have tasted much better. bigfunkyg
Long weekend over and back to the grind today. Thursday - RASS, good but had an odd draw, not tight or too loose just couldn't get a good smoke volume. Perhaps because two minutes after I light it the neighbour stopped by and chatted for 20 minutes. I let it go out because I didn't want to be rude. Friday - LGC MEDAILLE D'OR NO.2. Havn't had a amazing opening, didn't finish although draw and burn were spot on. Bolivar PC - good, not great. Too drunk and tired by end to enjoy fully Saturday - Punch Punch Punch - hit a great patch of these in a 07 box. This was the worst so far. Party Short - awsome from a PSP box. These will go fast Sunday - Partagas SP2 - great smoke, these might have settled finally a bit although a bit dark at the end. Best of all no weird dreams. RASS are great. that's interesting we both got "dry" flavour although mine seemed to be better than yours. Mine are a grey'ish wrapper, not the red wrapper I have seen before, like yours. I wish I had a comment about age but I don't, only tried 08's! Would love to try some aged examples :-) cheers

I totally agree, I have the same date with box code TEB and they are absolutely beautiful. The problem is that they all taste terrible. Maybe with time... Maybe with time... Just checked my box (HQ mindyou) TEB MAR 08. Sounds like we have pretty much the same box. I've heard of cigars going through additional fermentations while in the box. Anyone have insight on this concept? Could they be going through this "bad" period?

Could they be going through this "bad" period? I don't believe that the cigar can go through fermentation in the box...by this point they are done. You don't have the necessary temperatures anyway. However, the cigar does evolve and change in the box. Oils disperse etc. Also age, climate etc. can change things up as the cigar tries to acclimate. These would likely be what happens in the box, not fermentation.
bassman
My 08 RASS also terrible when fresh. Reeked of ammonia. Haven't gone back to them since. Still smoking very good 06s. Excellent 00 Partagas Piramide today.

Stalebread
Yesterday afternoon: Bolivar Especiales No.2 (German '09 RE). Burn, smoke volume, draw were all great. But the flavor was a little disappointing, kinda bland. Can't believe I'm saying that -- maybe expectations were too high.
bassman
97 LGC Tiano. One of the mildest cigars I've had- yet loaded with flavor. Great morning smoke.
groza
Montecristo #5 Rolled very tightly, this one had a tight burn and had to be touched up with my lighter several times. Unfortunately, it was a dud with lots of excessive glue from the label all over the wrapper. Maybe this cigar was born on a Monday after a weekend full of rum? I don't wanna know.
