My first Partagas E2, from the "Partagas For Poets" contest - thanks Prez!  An El Laguito 5-count box (MAR JUL 20), medium Colorado wrapper.  Absolutely impeccable construction as I expected, very elegant and refined with tons of creamy smoke.  A very different profile to the D4, which is my usual Partagas - less earth and bell pepper, much more coffee, leather and baking spice.  The Partagas profile is one which always triggers a sensation of "classic Habano" to me, and this was a very elemental experience in that vein.  Paired with a Springbank 10, probably the best entry-level OB from any Scotch distillery.

Opened a couple of new boxes to sample. 

TPO JUN 20 PDdP. Had high hopes based on all I’ve seen but this first one was only OK. I’ll try again after letting them sit a while more. 
 

TUA SEP 20 BBF. Very good for such a young cigar. Most of the ones I’ve had lately are from a 2012 cabinet so more refined a s complex but this one showed great potential. Full bodied and full flavored.

Feels like a special night for a midnight cigar. Completely still and quiet outside. Cold but no breeze.

Lit up a ‘18 Diplo 2 and poured a little Hardy XO rare cognac gifted by a generous BOTL on another forum. So good. These are the days of our lives, so they say, and this was one experience I won’t forget.

Started with a Mag 54. Last one I had in tahoe was magnificent. This one...horrific. Nothing but knots and dirty charcoal flavor. Dumped it for a Coloniales that I reviewed.

Currently enjoying a San Juan tubos. For some reason the tubos have performed better than slbs.
