These PCs are 2007s from a 5x5 cardboard pack. A bit flavour less and when I got them maybe even tasted of cardboard (I've taken them out and not storing in cardboard anymore). Construction is very good though which has been my experience with the few singles I've had previously.

MF is good. I think closer in flavour to the Royales. I've seen the Royales on sale at at least one vendor recently not too far from MF prices. Prices are all over the map on the Royales.

It was from a quarter box from 24:24, I believe the box code was GEM ABR 20.

How did it smoke? I just received a GEM ABR 20 box that have some dark wrappers.

This was the second one I smoked from the quarter box, and the second one I've ever smoked too. First one had coffee and leather, rather than the standard Upmann coffee and shortbread. The second one I may have overdone it on cigars before getting to, but coffee again and some twang (some other flavours I've forgotten). Pleasant enough but I'll have to smoke one or two more before I can say for sure.

My first Esplendido (GEL JUL 20). Arrived to me Dec 18. Couldn’t wait any longer. So far so good. A tad tight on the draw and had to mend a bit of the wrapper.  Thankful to have this one with more to spare. Also thankful for the San Diego weather despite CA politics. I see some some of you wearing gloves and heaters 2 ft away and admire your perseverance and thick blood! Cheers

I prefer the golden wrapper on my H. Upmann No. 2 like the one that you are smoking.

I have heard that the darker wrapper on the Montecristo No. 2 is better than a lighter wrapper.

Which of these pyramids did you enjoy more?

And do you know the box code of each?

My palette was shot last night due to lack of sleep this week. The Monte 2 is a jun 20 and the hu2 is a may 18, the last examples I’ve had recently of the hu2 have been phenomenal while the Monte 2’s havnt had quite enough rest to be honest. I just snagged a box of Monte 2’s today so I’ll smoke another Monte 2 soon to pass better judgement since I have heavy reinforcements coming!

I like lighter wrapper monte’s better as I think there’s more of that citrus twang, nuts and biscuit. I’m not a huge chocolate/coffee guy but when monte’s get that lighter flavor combo with the chocolate/coffee they’re freaking amazing. 
So far I’d say I like them equally. The ‘18 HU2 really needed 2 years. They were 85 point cigars before 2 years and now 92-93 pointers. But I think that’s indicative of much of the ‘18 production I’ve smoked through, they need more time than the 19-20 stock. 
 

HU2 is BRE MAY 18 and Monte 2 I believe is RAT JUN 20

 

quick funny story: I kinda gave up on my box of HU2’s and didn’t smoke one for awhile. I gave one to one of my buddies who sent me a picture smoking it in Guy Fieri’s backyard (he’s very good family friends with them) and said it was the best cigar he’s ever had. I didn’t believe him until I smoked another after almost a year hiatus and he was right, absolutely fantastic!
