No better way to knock out paper work or some calls! 

This one is smoking differently than the one I had last week. Last week's was dominated by black coffee and sugar/cream. This one had more of a darker, semi sweet cake flavor that is awesome! Wish I was doing a review, the 2/3 right now is just lights freaking out good.

HQ/PSP EMB AGO 17 — PSD4 from recent 24:24 after resting 45 days.. wasn’t pleasant to smoke this stick .. bitter and spicy on the tongue.. great construction.. chucked it half way.. maybe they need more time.. hoping for best!

This was the worst looking stick from the batch. I would call it HQ. Definitely not PSP. It’s the luck of the draw when you get 1/2 box.

In my experience a PSP box rarely has 100% PSP grade sticks. There will be some bad, good and great sticks .. so its a gamble when you buy 1/2 PSP boxes and can only hope one does not get the bad ones even after paying the premium.

H. Upmann Half Corona OPG Feb 2015

It wouldn't be often that you'd read a cigar review on an almost six year-old H.Upmann Half Corona. Yes, I admit it's an anomaly but if you're curious then kindly read on.

The H.Upmann Half Corona was released in 2011, has a 44 ring gauge and is 90 mm or 3½ inches in length. It typically smokes around 25 to 35 minutes. It comes packaged in a 5-pack metal tin or 25-count dress box. This OPG Feb 2015 H.Upmann Half Corona I smoked today came from a dress box.

When young the H.Upmann Half Corona is noted for its espresso coffee, toasted tobacco and white pepper/spice flavours. In its fifth year I've found that the flavours have melded a little and this HU Half Corona had diminished to around the medium mark in strength. The flavours were mainly coffee, toasted tobacco, a little shortbread, leather and a hint of sweet licorice at its core.

I wouldn't say that this cigar has become 'softer' over time. Rather, I would state that it's certainly nowhere near as intense as a HU Half Corona typically smoked within 12 to 24 months of its box date and the toasted tobacco and white pepper/spice you might find in youth has given way to other interesting flavours. I'm certainly glad to have aged it to this point but I don't think I'm inclined to smoke through the box in the next 12 to 18 months because I'm curious as to how this cigar will develop further.

LUB MAY 14 Petit Corona

This was the fat cigar in the box.  Excellent draw, perfect burn.  Beautiful wrappers in this box.  The kind you'd love to see on a Sir Winston.

PUR JUL 16 Corona Gigantes 

Somewhat restrained Bolivar.  My first in a couple years and only smoked 10 from a split back then.  Med-Heavy Bolivar with leather, nuts, cocoa with a crisp sweetness on the finish.  Nice transitions with a decent amount of complexity.

Thanks Karl. I have two boxes of this code and, after that first one, it’s going to be hard to keep my hands off them to see how they develop. 
Perfect draw, no touch ups and, classic Boli flavors!
