Popular Post havanaclub Posted December 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 6, 2020 Connie B GEM ENE 20. What an outstanding opening, pure Upmann DNA. This is my 4th from the cab and much better than the last one. These are very approachable young, beginning to think most stuff out of Cuba is that way. The construction and burn is second to none. Excellent cigar and ahead of the A for me, with the exception of the ring gauge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 27
Popular Post Islandboy Posted December 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 6, 2020 This is the star of the Christmas sampler show so far for me. Wonderful aroma, like warm cookies of some sort. 25
Popular Post BoliDan Posted December 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 6, 2020 End of the week CoRo A wise fellow @SigmundChurchill once told me if the knot is like cement there is no saving it. At that time, I poked 8 holes in that thing to no prevail. Rob Carlson was routing for me, but in the end Elliot was right (concerning since this is a guy that $60 cigar as his daily) but this CoRo had a cement knot, year one poke and it opened up like a champ. One of the few times the perfect draw has actually worked. 21 4

(50, 54, Corona) Or is it a totally different animal? Thanks. Wow...that view! Is that your house? Having experienced all 3 of the current QdO’s, I’d say this is mostly a different animal in comparison. I didn’t do a review because I came to the realization a few years ago that I basically suck at picking out specific flavors. Rather, I just recognize when there’s a finely balanced depth to the aromatic experience, and this cigar has it for sure. It’s that depth of flavor and spices that sets it apart from the others. Who knows what it will become with downtime. Yep, that’s the deck of my house in West Maui, it’s a humble abode that just happens to be in a great location, just a few miles from where I grew up. As a working-class shmuck born and raised (and schooled) here, I’m very fortunate to be a homeowner in one of the most expensive places in the US. Most of my high school classmates left the island long ago to pursue the dream. I’ve just followed grandma’s advice and kept my nose to the grindstone ? 10

Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted December 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 6, 2020 I forgot to post these Yesterday. Started out a on a very rainy Saturday morning with a Siglo VI. Then met @ElJavi76 at the cigar bar and we smoked some very good Hoyo DCs. Last night, finished up with a CoRo. Which, @BoliDan might want to use as a comparison of what a CoRo is supposed to look like. And now, starting off a frigid Sunday morning with an Esmeralda. 25 1

(The only Siglos I've had). Thanks. You can taste that they share some DNA, but they are not first degree relatives. Maybe second cousins. They do not come off as strong as their smaller counterparts, which for me, allows the more subtle vanilla, lemongrass, orange rind, and honey flavors to come through. The lack of roughness, makes it easy to taste all of these flavors, but at the same time, if smoked too young, it can seem bland. You don't need an excess amount of age to enjoy them. Though they do benefit from more age, they are perfectly acceptable at around 2 years. That is about the time it takes for them to open up so you can really taste the flavors. I have had some at the one year mark that were fine, but this is hit or miss, so unless you have multiple boxes, you may not want to take that chance. I don't recommend this cigar to anyone. It ruins all other cigars for you, and then you are stuck having to pay three times the price for your cigars. If you are enjoying the cigars you are smoking now, then just slowly turn around, and walk the other way. 8 4

Popular Post JohnS Posted December 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 6, 2020 Nudies N1 Lancero Below is a little background on the 2019 Nudies releases... For those of you unfamiliar with the Nudies releases, the intention was to blend more than the eventual two cigars produced, but this wasn't possible to achieve for commercial reasons, so El Pres and Hamlet settled on tweaking a blend which was close enough to replicating the 2010 discontinued Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No.1 and Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No.3. The Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No.1 was a lancero size with 38 ring gauge by 192 mm (or 7½ inches) in length dimensions. I gave my N1 Lanceros the recommended 90 day rest period to allow them to settle and keenly lit up my first one in March 2020. The first thing I noticed was that the smell of the cigars when I broke open their packaging was very different to the standard Habanos 'barnyard' smell that I've become accustomed to. This was more akin to grass rather than hay. The cold draw was quite inviting though, there was lashing of a sweet cocoa which had me intrigued and excited to light it up. It didn't take me long to realise what El Pres and Hamlet were trying to achieve when I smoked my first N1 Lancero in March this year. For me, it was plainly obvious that they were attempting to bring back the classic Habanos deeply rich leather-blended cigars of the early 2000s. This, together with notes of sourdough and mild sweet cocoa made me appreciate how good Partagas-type cigars like this once were. There was also a touch of Partagas spice here and there. It makes it hard to believe it was blended with Non-Cuban tobacco, but knowing that there's no Nicaraguan ligero leaf in these makes me understand and appreciate the muted bite and the sweet flavours. El Pres himself said that the small factory, small team (6 rollers), Hamlet blending, Cuban factory manager, choice of good aged tobaccos and great chemistry made things all come together well for the 2019 edition. I couldn't agree more! This N1 Lancero I smoked today in late 2020 had that core sweet cocoa, leather and sourdough but one thing I must share about this cigar in comparison to my first one in March was the Partagas spice which has diminished in the meantime. It's almost like it's not there. No matter, this is still every bit a quality cigar. I'm glad I have a few left to enjoy over the upcoming summer! 19
Popular Post Nino Posted December 6, 2020 Popular Post Posted December 6, 2020 I don't usually smoke at home. But today is St. Nicks, we are in lock-down, lousy weather outside and just finished a great dinner - so why not ?? Nicely aged PLPC from a 50 Cab inside. IOLO - I only live once ? 23

Reyes RAG MAY 19 El Principe RAT NOV 19 - I have only had two, ever, both from this box. Reminds me of a Nicaraguan stick. Not bad. Will be aging longer. And the best stick of the weekend, an Asylum Mini Corona that's been here over a year. Not unlike the El Principe, but better. Sacrilege, I know. 24
