Popular Post JohnS
Quai d'Orsay No. 50 SMA Jul 2018 It's been a little over a year since I've visited this SMA Jul 2018 box. In the meantime I finished a 10-count of LMB Jun 2019 Quay d'Orsay No.50s, as well as having one or two others from a MSA May 2019 box code, but these never quite matched how good the SMA Jul 2018 Quai d'Orsay No.50s have been for me overall. What I appreciated from this cigar was the luscious egg and butter texture to the smoke, making each puff feel like I was eating brioche bread. Added to this was the admirable complexity I got in this petit robusto, with cedar, hazelnut and ginger spice to compliment the refined brioche bread flavour evident at the beginning of the cigar. One caveat I must state though is that I've had sweeter toffee-like flavours from past QDO 50s, however; this did not detract in any way from the overall enjoyment I got from smoking this QDO 50 today. In contrast, it seemed that every time I lit up a 2019 Quai d'Orsay No.50 this year or last it was always more prevalent in wood and spice flavours and never as complex or well-balanced. Thankfully I have some more 2018 QDO 50s to enjoy in the meantime before I explore a late November 2019 box at some point next year.

Popular Post RDB
Small smokes outside here in the UK now. Lovely RG Perla tonight from May 18. Such great flavour in these: rich dark chocolate with fig or perhaps prune in the background. How I would love an RG laguito no.2. Yesterday an excellent SCDLH El Principe from JUL 17. Started all sweet and Xmassy but got quite a bit darker and fuller flavoured.

Popular Post Kaptain Karl
BSM MAR 20 Coloniales. I received this box about 25 days ago and couldn’t resist lighting one with a cracked foot. To my surprise, it’s already firing on all cylinders. It has a very different texture that is reminiscent of a Krispy Kreme Doughnut, since doughnuts are routinely described in the Trinidad flavor profile. I’m working and unable to truly focus on the flavors but it’s filled with those dessert flavors even though it’s not particularly sweet. Still a fantastic smoke and I can’t wait to smoke through the box!

Nope I'd crack it open when you can! I'm sure they'll be even better in a month or two but no need to rest them for a year or two. It opened with a huge spice blast but it's one of the better cigars I've had in the past few months, full flavored and rich.

Popular Post havanaclub
This was from a HQ REG JUL 19 50cab. The infamous listing that caused a stir. A beautiful dark oily cab of RASS in the 24 listing had several wondering why they got pale/dry wrappers. It prompted the contest to take pictures of cigars on arrival to see they magically get oilier and improve in appearance after a few months in the humidor. Well I got one of the lighter cabs, I wasn’t upset at all as I thought they were a perfect Colorado with a light sheen. The first pic inside is more reminiscent of the true shade of the wrapper. I would have to go back in my camera roll to see if they did indeed change. They are fairly pungent and have improved in the fruity flavour department since my last one. Cheers. I’m cruising through a box right now, still got one more box behind it but honestly i keep thinking I should buy more of these. Glad you seeing the same!

Popular Post ReturnFreeRisk
Garage smoke on a rainy Chicago but not working today! This BBF is last from SLB that I bought about 10 yrs ago when my grandpa passed away so that I could have dedicated time to remember. Have loved the salted pretzel consistency in this entire box. I collect historical US flags and revolutionary war flags. Popular Post JohnS
San Cristóbal de la Habana La Fuerza LGR Jun 2018 Fuerza means power, force or strength in Spanish. It doesn't necessarily correlate that a San Cristobal de la Habana La Fuerza is fuller in body or strength in comparison to other Habanos cigars. Unlike the SCdLH La Punta, which means point in Spanish, the name of that campanas cigar with a point at its head is much more logical. I've noted in previous reviews on the La Fuerza that it is similar to the El Principe in blend, only more muted. I find the El Principe is more rich and intense, a 'no-brainer go-to' cigar, for me. This La Fuerza was like the last two or three I've had from this box code; molasses sweet, light coffee tones, minimal cocoa and an 'airy cake' or pancake texture to it throughout which exemplifies why recent SCdLH La Fuerza have been so good. I've had many more El Principes in the past few years than La Fuerzas. Of the La Fuerzas I've had the TOS Jun 2016 were nowhere near the quality of these LGR Jun 2018 examples, which have been simply outstanding in general.
