I gave my buddy a box of these PMS DIC 13 partagas habaneros for his birthday a few years ago. He loves a good 'firecracker' stick, but doesn't collect, so that's the sum of his humidor contents. I held onto another box [of the same code] , for sharing in solidarity with him, on the rare occasion that he gets around to having a cigar.

I found out last night that my buddy's grandpa passed away. Thankfully, he went in his sleep, with a smile on his face, in the presence of loved ones.

My buddy asked me to 'light a firecracker for grandpa'. Went ahead and took the first example, in a few years, out of this box. After 7 years. These habaneros still pack quite a punch. Just like grandpa's legacy, they've got a lotta legs left in em.

To all my fellow smokers who've been holding onto some sentimental stick for a special occasion, fire one up for Jose.

Weird, right?  $35, 000 a year to belong to a private club, and I'm too cheap to buy a $20 glove.  I often wonder why when it comes to certain things, I'm super stingy, and with other things, not.  I think it has something to do with all those summers I spent in Ft. Lauderdale, as a kid, at my depression-era grandmother's house, trying to get to the restaurants by 5PM so we would make it in time for the Early Bird Special.

OK.  You have inspired me to get a new glove today at the pro shop.  That is a very nice offer, but you dont have to do that. ? 

In reality, the price of a glove on my monthly bill would go completely unnoticed.

Punch Punch UBM Ago 2018

The last Punch Punch I had was a little over five months ago. In my write-up on that cigar I noted that in 2020, within the Punch marca, it had been superseded by the Punch 8-9-8, Punch 48 and new regular production addition, the Punch Short de Punch. Let me reassure you, a good Punch Punch still packs a 'punch' (yes, the pun is intentional) and is worthy of your attention if you are a Punch fan.

As a marca, Punch alongside Romeo y Julieta and Montecristo is a brand that cigar enthusiasts point out for its inconsistency. This is true, when they are ordinary they can be bland and woody. However, I would counter that when they are smoking well no other brand encapsulates the essence of Cuban twang within a cigar quite like a Punch cigar. My last Punch Punch had more cedar qualities to it, this had your quintessential sour cream, leather and cloves and of course that Cuban twang sour tart citrus flavour which made me smoke this down well into the final third.

This was the last Punch Punch in my humidor, for now. I think I will enjoy the Punch Short de Punch in the meantime until I re-stock my humidor with some more Punch Punch down the track.
