First time through, and what a great show I have seen every episode multiple times, while it was still on the air. The times between seasons was often very long, and I would re-watch the previous season to catch myself up for each new season. This is the first time I am watching it all the way through since the final episode, and I am picking up a lot of things I missed back then. The show has a special meaning for me, because it all takes place in my area, so I know all the places where they meet, restaurants, streets, etc. Also, I grew up knowing people that would have fit in very well on the show.? 3

Popular Post JohnS Posted August 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 23, 2020 Cohiba Espléndidos 2003 - Reserva Selección (circa 2003) The Cohiba Reserva Seleccion from 2002 was the first special release in the Reserva line. Nowadays, the Reserva series is a bi-annual release, alternating with Gran Reserva releases. They also include common regular production cigars, albeit made with higher quality leaf. The first Reserva release was paradoxical in that it included 30 cigars (which is around twice what you get in these type of releases these days) and it included five vitolas; 8 Piramides (i.e. standard size 52 ring gauge x 156 mm, not the bigger-sized current regular production cigar, the Cohiba Piramides Extra which is 54 ring gauge x 160 mm), 4 Esplendidos, 6 Robustos, 6 Coronas Especiales and 6 Media Coronas (which was a vitolas specifically made for this release, being identical in ring gauge to the Coronas Especiales but 10 mm shorter - 38 ring gauge x 142 mm and the first Cohiba release to include medio tiempo leaf). This Cohiba Esplendidos 2003 Reserva Seleccion cigar had more similarities with regular production Cohiba Esplendidos I've smoked of the same age than the Cohiba Piramides 2003 Reserva Seleccion I smoked a few months ago did in comparison to regular production aged Cohiba Piramides Extra. I'd still rate this 2003 Reserva Seleccion cigar more highly than the many mid-2000s Esplendidos I've smoked, and that's saying something as those latter cigars have consistently been outstanding cigars. I guess the main difference in comparing this 2003 Reserva Seleccion Esplendidos to aged regular production Esplendidos is the quality grass/hay, deep cedar and vanilla bean consistency to the cigar. There was still some mocha coffee and buttered texture to this Esplendidos, but those flavours came across much milder like milk coffee and the buttered texture to the cigar was more creamy. I must thank and acknowledge @Trevor2118 for gifting me this cigar to smoke and review. It proved a testament to the longevity of quality Habanos cigars as this smoked so supremely well. 31 1

Apparently there was a Juan Lopez Epicures that was discontinued in the 1970s that was the original example of this vitola. https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/brand/juan-lopez#epicures I don't know if it was actually called that at the time, it might have been called something else then though. Very interesting about the medio tiempo leaf! 2

Popular Post StogieSteve23 Posted August 24, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 24, 2020 A couple from the weekend. Dantes: Wayy better than the first one I tried two years ago.. Glad I have a box of these stashed away somewhere.. Dark chocolate, roasted nuts, lots of lemon zest and a hint of peppermint. Tatuaje 7th Capa Especial: Pure molasses and vanilla extract. Lots of vanilla. DPG Original Imperiales: A little harsh but nice flavors and strength for the beach. Leather and black pepper. 2015 (or earlier) Padron 7000 Maduro. Got a bunch of these as freebies from someone a few years back. Gave some away, smoked a few since, stashed 5-6 somewhere and had this lone guy in one of my NC humidors. Reached for something I wouldn't care too much about on the golf course since its blowing 50 constantly right now. Played an afternoon round with my pops today and was easily one of the top 5 windiest rounds I've played. Golf game wasn't too bad but the cigar didn't disappoint at all. Loads of molten dark chocolate, creamy cocoa, coffee, minimal spice, hazelnut retro. Really enjoyed this. Love how these have mellowed out with some years on them. Also love that we were basically the only ones on the course and sped around in 3 hours, taking out time.. 29
