The three marcas that 'topped' the poll were Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta and Punch. The Juan Lopez marca represents one of my most inconsistent marcas, but not for reasons of satisfaction or disappointment. Rather, I tend to find these either are too strong and overwhelm my palate or are finely-balanced, have pleasant and 'soft' flavours and in terms of smoking value, they can 'punch above their weight', colloquially speaking. I acquired this box around the turn of the New Year in 2019, had four and liked none, the most recent being in February, May and July last year. The last one I had around six months had diminished in those stronger flavours and I really enjoyed it so I decided to give this box another try today. This Juan Lopez Seleccion No.2 was very much dominant in toasted tobacco which didn't allow the chocolate and/or citrus characteristics to shine. The previous one from this box was all chocolate and orange from beginning to end, underscored by a coffee and oak spine. It was simply brilliant, which made me elated because I didn't figure I'd get one from the box as good as this in 2019, at least. I think I give this another six months and see how they are around the four-year mark in December this year. I have the same box code and felt the same thing as you with being disappointed smoking my first one last year. I'll have to revisited this cigar and will see if I like it better like you. Did you dry box this cigar before smoking it? 2
Popular Post StogieSteve23 Posted July 26, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2020 My brother decided to come down from South Carolina this weekend for a few days. Naturally, my grandmother was insistent upon making/getting all the accoutrement for his favorite lunch spread. Roasted peppers, mozzarella/tomato/basil, prosciutto, soppressata, macaroni salad and fresh ricotta with some fresh baked Italian bread. Everything is so small that you end up eating way way too much. For desert I revisited the SCdLH Cabana. Delicious flavors of cedar, milk chocolate and black cherries. My brother enjoyed a Rio Seco then a PLMC. 29

Popular Post Rhinoww Posted July 26, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2020 Washed and waxed my wife’s truck. Used a synthetic wax from Wolfgang for the first time. Man that stuff is a huge step up from the Chemical Guys Jet polish. Hope it lasts a few months, but that paint looks great, and her GX is 10 years old. Only problem is this will keep her from wanted to trade in for a new one. Miles are getting higher but the car still runs great. Now it looks new. Should have gone the extra step and clay bared it. Oh well. so I rewarded myself with a Lusi. PSP April 19 from our host. Can’t remember the factory. But I may wash and wax another car from the fleet soon if these are my reward. Enjoyable smoke for sure. 27

Popular Post JohnS Posted July 26, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2020 H. Upmann Royal Robusto 2011 - La Casa del Habano Exclusivo (circa 2017) As I wrote recently, the H.Upmann Royal Robusto was released circa 2012 and is an Edmundo-sized vitola with a 52 ring gauge x 135 mm (or 5⅜ inches) length. Incidentally, the H.Upmann Connossieur A is the same ring gauge and only 5 mm (or one-fifth of an inch) longer, but I would definitely classify the Royal Robusto as a very different Upmann cigar to the Connossieur A. Broadly speaking, in my opinion, there are Upmann cigars that excel in 'softer' flavours such as shortbread and cream and there are Upmann cigars that are more robust giving you stronger cedar, coffee and leather flavours. I'd put the Connossieur A in the former category and the Royal Robusto in the latter one. My recently smoked H.Upmann Royal Robusto last month had coffee flavour which was light with a cedar and leather spine to it, a vanilla or licorice sweetness in the first third which transposed in the second third with the addition of some cinnamon spice. In the last third I got some further complexity with white pepper notes. This Royal Robusto was much the same, as every bit as good and complex, with perfect construction evident from the ash-lengths and rings. 30

At the ambient humidity in the storage space where my cigars are stored. I would say the mark would be around the mid to high 50s. I don't sweat over the exact figure because I've been at this for that long that I know that a maximum of three days is enough to bring about a significant change in overall moisture content for the cigar. 5

Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted July 27, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 27, 2020 Making the most of my last day of my perch above the beach for the summer. We rent this house out every August, so we will be at the other house. But who knows, maybe we will be here in September this year. Usually September is too busy with the kids school, but I just found out we will be home schooling again in the fall, so maybe this year we will be out here for September and I’ll get my perch back. Esmeralda CoRo Media Luna CPE Crazy sunset tonight. Purple to the SW and orange to the NW. 33
