Popular Post planetary Posted April 21, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 21, 2020 Couple smaller cigars this morning... Party Short (RAE ABR 14), from a handpicked 50 cab. Flavor was smoothed out in a way that some might feel is a loss compared to earlier spicy youth, but I find quite delicious. Medium. Pleasing straight-ahead cuban cigar with spot-on construction. Siglo II (MUO MAY 14), from a 5x5 pack stored loose rather than in the cardboard. Rounder -- but this example lacked the sweeter richness I look for in Siglos. Just under medium. Overall a very pleasurable way to start the day! 28
Popular Post Thirds Posted April 21, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 21, 2020 Thanks to @encephalization for this enjoyable cigar this afternoon. It was great from the first toast to the nub. I’d read some mixed reviews on this but it checked all the boxes for me. Hopefully soon you’ll be able to return from your lockdown overseas and we can smoke in person again. Safe travels, friend. Popular Post inter4alia Posted April 21, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 21, 2020 MUO May 15 Sig 2. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not well versed in Cohiba but this box to me has been absolute Cohiba perfection through and through. 27

This was happily followed in the actual smoking experience with the constant presence of 'Murray mints'. not sure if they are available abroad, but good lord it's lovely, They are creamy, buttery toffee mint sweets. Good call there, Stefan. Yes, I know what you mean, something similar to this below... 6

Didn't smoke many from 2003-2013, but 2014 onward have been mostly solid. 24:24 had a good deal the other night on cabs. E2s can also be stupendous. 1

Popular Post GVan Posted April 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 22, 2020 An unknown Cuban Churchill (julieta #2) exactly 7" by ~ 46 RG. It's been in my humidor for a very long time stored next to the 2002 Monte #2's. Probably around the same vintage. At the time I was traveling to London often and would stop at Harrod's for a cigar. Always liked that you could smoke a cigar right next to where you bought them (boy are those days gone)! I'd usually buy a cigar or two for the trip home and remove the bands. There are also 2 Lustania's stored with this cigar (and one more just like it -- all with no bands). Might be a Partagas Churchill de Luxe as I was really into Partagas and Monte #2's back then. Really smooth; lightly toasted tobacco, light coffee and cedar that never changed through the entire cigar. 19

Popular Post RDB Posted April 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 22, 2020 A nice PLM in the sunshine and birdsong today. LGR AGO 18. Doesn’t look very special, does it? Pale and dry. But a lovely fragrant sweet woodsmoke aroma and a satisfying experience again from this box. Fairly punchy, and a nasty black ash, suggests long life ahead. 28

I’ve only got one box, but they have all been bland and disappointing, with very little of what I think of as Rafael Gonzalez character.
