El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse MLU Dic 2018

Ok, so I am enjoying the time to smoke through the 2019 Xmas Sampler currently, but in-between, well...sometimes I just like to smoke the wee little ones. I had a small window of time this morning so I decided to smoke this small panatela. Quite a few of these Demi Tasses from this box have been tight but thankfully I didn't need my PerfecDraw tool. The flavours were quite good; shortbread, honey and some almond nut. I enjoyed how mild this was for its size but I don't think I'll age this box as too many have been tight in the draw. I have another box from 2016 for that purpose.

Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du Maire TEO May 2018

When you have less than half an hour and you feel like a cigar you are invariably left with few options. I had an El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse for my last cigar, why not try the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du Maire? This was not as mild as the ERdM Demi Tasse but it was a nice combination of cocoa and vanilla spice from start to finish. I'm almost halfway through this box and they are just under two years old. I wonder if I'll have any left after three?

One of the last Bolivar Bonitas in my collection. I loved these date coded POS Dic 06 so a bit over 13 years old and still smoking very nicely. Discontinued production in 2009. Flavours appearing and disappearing in this, great volume of smoke with some sweetness and distinct coffee bean towards the nub

Partagas P2 - don't know the box code but I know it's a 2019 from a recent 1/4 box purchase.  Wish I had the whole box now.  Smooth and delicious to the nub.

I have a handful of 14's left that I'm trying desperately hard not to smoke. What wonderful sticks they are indeed.  Also, I have a buddy whos been smoking cigars for 40 years and swears by that Xikar V-Cut.

Re-visiting the Isla this morning.  Last one I had out of the box was on vacation in Colombia back in February. It was not dry-boxed first and when I lit it at the rooftop bar we were at, It was too windy, burned wonky and had some odd flavors.  This one was much better. 

I got nice cedar and black cherry notes throughout most of the stick. Nearly spot on construction with a flawless burn. There was a slight crack (less than 1cm) sized crack up near the head of the cigar.  Now into the 2/3 of the stick and the ER band cames off no problem. The Punch band gave me fits. I got impatient and ripped it off slightly overaggressive to the point where after another 10 minutes of holding/smoking it, all but the entire wrapper had a crack going up the side.  I proceeded to smoke it for a few more minutes and really did enjoy everything I was getting, despite it feeling like a broken twig in my hand.  I ended up putting it down at the start of the final third. 

Glad I went semi-deep on these as I think they have a nice potential to improve.  Personally I am a big fan of the Punch Marca.
