Read what Rob described as Sir Winston meets SLR DC, so wanted to explore it.

Definitely no resemblance of SLR DC and can barely tell it is H Upmann.

Very disappointed and had to let it retire early. Maybe it’s my luck that I got a bad stick?

ALO DIC 16. My first of a box I made my buddy snag for me when he was in Dubrovnik last summer. The reviews I have read have been down on this but after the first 5 minutes ... 93+. Magic ! But then this Sir Winnie I smoked late last night was awful .... even the perfecdraw couldn’t help it. Such is life !

Had a few of these Epi 2’s while in Havana and had one left that I brought home and had this morning. They all smoked great.



Had my first UEB ABR 18 Mag 46 from a box tonight and it was outstanding. Great considering I bought two boxes at the same time and the first box was average all the way through. Here’s hoping the rest of this box are as good.

After smoking a 7 year old RyJ Deluxe (for the weekend review) and not getting what I wanted from an RyJ, I picked up one of my churchills from 2015 to see if my tastebuds were just off today.  They aren't, now I'm getting what I want from my RyJ, lots of smoke, lots of creaminess, vanilla, cedar, cherry, and a good buzz.  Nailed it.

Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robustos LUA Sep 2014

The last time I had this cigar, I was surprised at how fuller-bodied in comparison to other Hoyo de Monterrey cigars this was. It had a dominant cocoa flavour which put any other cedar/wood and cream flavours in the background. The best way to describe this, in my opinion, is that this vitola is the Montecristo Petit Edmundo equivalent petit robusto within the Hoyo de Monterrey marca. If you are looking for a stronger Hoyo de Monterrey experience lasting 45 to 50 minutes in smoking time, I'd say, go for this!

This PCC Aged from September 2014, gifted by @Thirds (thank you kindly!) was remarkably similar despite its age. It had a strong flavour of cedar, a touch of cinnamon spice and toasted tobacco but very little 'soft' or powdered cocoa flavour. In terms of strength I'd distinguish it as mild-medium.

So there you have it! If you like your Hoyo de Monterrey a little more potent go for this vitola. If you like it milder and more creamy I'd suggest you invest in the Epicure Especial or something similar.

These are the habanos from the past couple days. Smoking the EAR AGO 01 San Cristobal El Morro paired with a little Wellers Antique 107 Bourbon. Hope everyone is comfortably bunkering down for the next couple weeks while this stupid virus passes through the US. Wish all of you the best and my prayers that we all stay safe, healthy and come out of this thing stronger! Have a good weekend everyone!
