An RE Friday with @Nate Chu C&C for a Saturday morning with this Sir Winston from 03. Today is going to be great if this cigar is anything to judge it by. What a super smooth star

First cigar of the year.

C&C ‘14 especiales. Fantastic start to the day C&C with a Monte 4 C&C time today with a Perla picked up from 24:24

Smoked my first illusione today on a weekly trek across LA. It was an HL natural. I thought I had found something really special with the first third: complex, medium to medium full flavor but only light pepper on the palate, a pleasant sweetness... and it really developed with each quarter or so, but not for the better. Second third morphed pretty dramatically into a largely fruity profile which was pleasant, but rather one dimensional and it got old in a cigar that long. Final third showed distinct signs of youth: alternately bitter and sour with a lingering unpleasantness on the palate. Honestly got the ammonia taste out of this cigar more distinctly than I ever have before. And I was in rush hour traffic so when I ran out of coffee, I had nothing to rinse out the taste. Still, that first third was excellent!

I haven't found any Illusione cigars that wow me.  For me they largely seem to have that sort of bread, blandish flavor. Decent but not great cigars for me.

I’m celebrating my 10 year old daughter making the travel basketball team.  We got the email this morning. They only pick 10 girls and there is no participation trophy, you either make the team or you don't.  She wanted it so bad, and even though she had no doubts that she would make it, I was really nervous.  Not because I didn't think she was good enough.  I do.  But I was worried about it being political.  A lot of other fathers participate in the league, but since I work so much, I cant.  Also, what if she had an off day at the tryouts?

Anyway, I wanted to smoke some good cigars today.

I started with a Siglo VI, early this morning, before we even got the email, because I always smoke a Siglo VI at the end of a 24 hour shift.  Then I moved on to some other good stuff.

The Siglo VI.

But, full disclosure, I could smoke Siglo VI’s all day, if they weren’t so expensive.  I love them.

I really enjoyed all 4 cigars though.  I hate to pick just one because they were really all top notch cigars.

I’m smoking a Monte Maltes in the garage tonight.  It isn’t that cold out, but just had in 2 5000 btu heaters installed in the garage, so I wanted to test them out.

The ceilings are 15 feet high, so I was a little worried when I saw the size of these units, but they seem to be working really well.

It is way to high to use the built-in thermostats, so I had 2 thermostats installed on the wall to control them.

Between the heaters and the 2 iqAir filters, I should be good to go for winter smoking.  I should have done this years ago.

Dude, nice!!

Those electric heaters are awesome. I have had one in the garage stall I walked off and made into my woodworking shop. Keeps the temp above the dew point so none of my cast iron tools rust at all. They are workhorses.

enjoy the warm garage
