Popular Post JohnS
Sancho Panza Non Plus RUM Abr 2018 I 'broke open' my SRO Feb 2018 box of Sancho Panza Non Plus yesterday so I figured I should do the same with my other recent acquisition of this vitola since its announcement of discontinuation this year. Fortunately, the first one from this RUM Abr 2018 box had a good draw and was not tight, unlike my first cigar from my SRO Feb 2018 box. Flavours were similar, although this cigar was more on the 'charred wood' side and less 'floral'. Salt was there but it was minimal. After having two of these in two days, I can't say that I'd be willing to put this into my rotation right now. I definitely need these to be more like my aged ABR Sep 2011 box, more smooth and cream-textured. Do note, all the Sancho Panza Non Plus I've had this year, whether aged or youthful, have been different to the excellent SP Belicosos of recent times (i.e. 2017 and 2018), which I've found to be more 'toasty' or 'crispy' and much more approachable when young.
Popular Post SigmundChurchill
RyJ Churchill Añejado I am a big fan of aged RyJ Churchills, especially the tubos. The first full box of Cuban cigars I ever bought was a box of RyJ Churchills, and one of the top 10 cigars I have ever smoked was a 20 year old RyJ Churchill tubo that was sent to me by a certain author from Hong Kong. When I first heard about the Anejado series coming out with a RyJ Churchill, I was cautiously excited to try them. Cautiously, because of the disappointment of the previous Anejado cigars, but excited because they were RyJ Churchills. I decided it would be fitting to smoke this in the Churchill Room at my local cigar bar. In the first few puffs, I noticed a strong cedar taste to it. As I continued, the cedar flavor remained but another taste was there, that I just couldn’t put my finger on, but if dirt has a flavor, this is what I would imagine it would taste like. It was pretty much cedar and dirt all the way through the cigar. In the middle 1/3 there were hints of interesting flavors here and there, some of them even pleasant, but they were fleeting, leaving as quickly as they came, and then back to cedar and dirt. I dont know what the aging conditions are in Cuba, but they must be different than my humidor, because my humidor has never turned a cigar into a completely different cigar, no matter how long I aged it. This cigar tasted nothing like any RyJ Churchill I have ever smoked, aged or young. As a side note, I just noticed the cigar in Churchill’s mouth in the picture is clearly larger than a 47 ring gauge cigar. It’s at least a 50 or maybe 52.

Popular Post Grateful13
Rare for me 3 smoke weekend. Vigia, Non Plus, snd Montecarlo. All recent singles I picked up and the first time I’ve tried all of these. Driftwood is such a good description for the SP NP, kudos to whoever came up with that. Salty. I’m still on the fence on whether I should pick up a box in light of the discontinuation though.

Just finishing the 1st 1/3rd and so far it’s an amazing smoke. Cream and light spice, brioche with notes of cedar on the backend. Great construction w/ a slightly tight draw... Just how I like my Coronas Gordas.. This is a very special cigar. Congrats to all that picked up a box of these. Great cigar!
Popular Post GinFizzLove
HUHC UTL AGO 18. Really nice flavors here. Spice and marzipan creaminess. Just a touch of wood and some anise about half way through. My only complaint is the draw always seems to suffer towards the end. Think I might be smoking them too quickly.
