One of my favorite bourbons there, since finding a bottle here locally about 3 years ago. Followed by 3 years of being completely absent. I even stumbled on a bottle in a boutique liquor store in a high end tourist location 6 months ago, dude was asking well over $200 for it, claiming it’s nowhere to be found. He was right at the time, but I passed. Suddenly about a month ago, it’s everywhere here, including Costco for $43. Needless to say, I’ve been stocking up. 5

This one...finally...was quite good. I picked up a sampler with 2 of each size about 6 months back. I must have dug into the previous 3 too soon, wasn’t impressed, lots of youthful off tastes. This one started off nice but kinda one-dimensional, but flavors really became richer in the second third. Reminds me a bit of a Boli Libertador, but milder. Good, but Still rather have the Boli. 1 1

Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted September 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2019 Shanah Tova (Happy New Year) to all of my Jewish friends! I wanted to smoke something I knew I would love, to usher in the new year, so I woke up at 6AM to smoke this cigar before my wife makes me go with her to synagogue. I was sad to take out the last one in the top row of this box, even though I have 7 other boxes in the humidor, because this box has been spectacular. As much as I have high hopes for some of the other boxes, as we all know, there is no guarantee. 25

I have two old boxes sleeping (wish i had more). The cigar was very interesting. I've only ever smoked QDOCC with 2-4 years on them. This was a bit of a revelation. Really enjoyed the cigars. It had a lot of Punch elements going on. Juicyfruit gum, cloves, pencil shavings etc etc. it also had a little PLMC like a mix of burnt caramel, and new car leather. There was a glimpse of the cream, and toasted oat porridge to come, but this cigar was all over the shop (in a good way). I hope they do calm down, as the QDOCC of 2015-26 are close to my perfect cigar. To me the apex or zenith of where you want a QDOCC to be, is when it's like creamy toasted oat porridge, resinous cedar, orange zest, anise etc. when they are like that, the leave Cohiba and Trinidad in the dust. Hats off to @El Presidente for picking out Brioche, I great addition as to how to accurately pick these cigars, and very fitting to their French heritage Fair point...when QdO are good and have those quality flavours in them...they give Cohiba a run for its money!

Popular Post Chef Posted September 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2019 Rare two cigar evening... PSP2 MSU SEP 18. Tight draw. Had to cut off 1/4" more than I would have liked. Draw tool helped, too. Otherwise, pretty nice. Needs more time, though. 25 1
Popular Post JohnS Posted September 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2019 La Gloria Cubana Taínos LRE Dic 2009 This is the second cigar from a box I've rested in my OLH for a number of years and recently had shipped. As I mentioned in my previous review of this cigar, if you've researched the La Gloria Cuban Tainos on the forum you'd know that it is a much-loved and much-missed cigar. Although, perhaps the examples from the early 2000's were not as much-loved, the last few years of production in '08 and '09 were better. This LGC Tainos had a core cream, nut and cake flavour and surprisingly, it had a distinctive lemon citrus twang that was really enjoyable. Retrohaling, which I'm disinclined to do on younger cigars, presented no issue here as the draw, like my last LGC Tainos, left a pleasant tingle through the nose and I had no problem retrohaling into the last third either. Sadly, there's only three regular production Churchills; the iconic Romeo y Julieta Churchill, the seasonal H.Upmann Sir Winston and the premium Cohiba Esplendidos. This aged La Gloria Cubana Tainos was nothing like those in terms of flavour. It has more in common with the LGC Medaille d'Or No.4, but it still has a marked difference in comparison to any LGC Medaille d'Or No.4 I've smoked. How I wish these were still around! 23
