Popular Post MigsG Posted September 22, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2019 Enjoying my first Hdm San Juan at Cafe Exquisito in La Paz. This is so good. But with a blast of sweetness from the get go. My palate's off so I can't make out exactly, but seems to be some kind of honey and mild coffee. Nice outdoor garden here that's perfect for cigars. And no breeze after the storm last night. 21
Popular Post CampDelta369 Posted September 22, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2019 No screwing around tonight. Connie A. Wow. My favorite fat CC now. Just Crackers. A well chilled Zarate Albariño pairing. Cheers 21

Popular Post Thirds Posted September 22, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2019 Magicos today. This Maduro line is climbing in my rankings. The Secretos is a fantastic cigar and this was up there. This is presumably a 2018 single from the store. Does anyone have experience with older box codes on these...say 2014/2015? I’m interested to know if time helps or hurts these given they already have 5 year old wrappers. 20

Popular Post JohnS Posted September 22, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2019 Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 BUP Mar 2018 I do enjoy a light-strength Habanos every now and then, and when I do, the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 often 'fits the bill'. This was mainly light cocoa at the beginning and soon settled into its core flavours of cedar wood and cloves. There wasn't any real hint of cream or vanilla and/or cinnamon sweetness one can get with these, but I didn't really seem to mind. After all, the simplicity on offer here saw me nub this cigar as far I could go! 23
Popular Post Deeg Posted September 22, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2019 HdM Epicure No 1, a prize item so not sure of the date. Nice golden wrapper, smooth and even with one big vein. Burned a treat, draw started a bit tight and opened up as the cigar smoked down. Pretty classic Epicure profile - light vanilla, gingerbread, a hint of cedar, sweet tobacco notes, intermittently creamy. Not as robust on the palate as the EE. As I find with Hoyos, starts out on the light side of medium and increases to medium bodied. 88/100 I'd say. Also, the corona gorda is such a great size, seriously. Also also, I've come to believe HdM bands are applied with gorilla glue. "Wait for the heat to release the adhesive and then remove it" I was taught, but like a tree that's standing by the water side, these shall not be moved. 14

Problem for me is that the Maduro wrapper drowns out the traditional cohiba flavor. But still a good smoke. I haven't smoked a young one yet...can you taste cohiba in a young one? 1

Popular Post Luca Posted September 22, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2019 Some fantastic cigars this weekend! Bolivar Gold Medal (mid 2019 review series): Notes of bitter espresso at the start which then died down. This was then followed by some notes of Rocky road and burnt toffee. Fantastic smoke. It was great smoking and reviewing this with @JohnS Paired with a glass of Hakushu 12! Thank you @JohnS LGC Tainos (mid 2019 review series): my first...and wow. Simply wow. Beautiful notes of fresh sponge cake and cream on the palate. The retro hale was pleasantly smooth with an interesting touch of lemon citrus which tied the cigar in so well. I absolutely loved this. Thank you so much @JohnS for this! Trinidad Robusto Extra: another first for me here. I was so amazed with the flavours that this cigar presented. It tasted of a strong salted butter flavour. The salt intensified as the cigar progressed and there was even a bit of a tingle of salt on the retrohale. Thank you @JohnSfor this fantastic smoke! And of course.... John pairs another great scotch. This one a Rum Cask scotch the Balvenie 14. P.S: Make sure you check out the @JohnS mid 2019 review series for some great vids! 25
