Popular Post inter4alia Posted September 12, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2019 This Padron 50th anniversary was gifted to me roughly a year ago. Large stick. Had some time tonight so decided to fire it up. Gotta tell you, pretty damn good so far. Not worth the retail for sure, but I'm very happy to be smoking it. Tons of smoke output and perfect construction. 18

You’re the second person to be underwhelmed by this cigar in the daily smoke. I’ve been trying to track a box down and lost out on the auction a couple days ago. Maybe I don’t need to try so hard to find them...

None whatsoever and was actually more mild than other SCs I’ve had. In my experience, it had the richness of a premium cigar but lacked the sweetness of the El Principe or La Punta and unfortunately comes at a premium. It’s a cigar I’m glad to have sampled but I wouldn’t look hard for a box to call my own. In a blind test I’d probably reach for the regular production selections. El Principe is pretty hard to beat. 3 1

Popular Post jtfrizzy Posted September 12, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2019 '15 H. Upmann Magnum 50 paired with a little Woodford Reserves. Very good combo On another note... Never forget, never ever forget the victims, the heroes that gave their lives that day and those that signed their name on the dotted line to make sure something like that never happens again anywhere! I used to think they tasted like bland, mild cardboard. In last year or so they're have gotten better, more body and flavor. Not sure it's newer crops or aging. But I still can't find value at $45+ per stick. Worth trying a couple though. 1

I think all of the 1926 and 1964 series taste remarkably similar...for me they are interchangeable. But I do like that woodsy char they all produce. Very consistent. 1

Popular Post JohnS Posted September 12, 2019 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2019 Por Larrañaga Petit Coronas circa 2014 (thanks @jay8354) I've been so enamored with the Por Larranaga Montecarlos lately that one may wonder why I haven't sampled the Por Larranaga Petit Coronas (or Picadores, for that matter) in recent times? I think there are two reasons; firstly, the quality-to-cost appeal of the Montecarlos and secondly, it takes more time for Petit Coronas to develop the caramel profile I prefer in that cigar. Thankfully, @jay8354 gifted me this PLPC from circa 2014 and at that age, it did not let me down, let me tell you! Whereas a PLMC may typically take 1 to 3 years to develop a dominant caramel characteristic, the PLPC may take 5 to 8 years to do so. This Petit Coronas certainly had a smooth and soft caramel flavour to it, together with honey and baking spice notes. It was a superb cigar, the type that 'rewards you in spades' for the patience you give it. 25
