Popular Post JohnS
La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No.4 ETP Ene 2016 This has been my fourth stick from this box and my best thus far. I made sure to smoke it slowly, of course! There was some nice fruit, wood, herbal notes and a hint of almond nut throughout. The draw was perfect and there was no burn issues, the ash was a consistent length of around one inch all the way. One thing of interest was the lack of pepper (or spice) which made this remarkably easy to retrohale. I'm not inclined to savour cigars through the nose unless they are milder and this didn't disappoint, there was no tingle to it all. If you don't have the La Gloria Cuban Medaille d'Or No.4 in your rotation, make sure to add it as it is a long and skinny worthy of your time and attention, in my opinion.

Popular Post THEMISCHMAN
MSU NOV 18. This one had the fruitiness that I get from LGC only it was more muted. There was a grassiness to it that wasn’t unpleasant but just a little too dominant. Some wood showed up in the last couple inches. It kind of reminded me of a big MdO4. I’m looking forward to seeing how they are in a couple of years.

Deeg
7 hours ago, RDB said: Por Larranaga Montecarlo LGR SEP 17. No caramel sweetness, instead a dark earthy tobacco flavour, with a hint of campfire woodsmoke. Very consistent over the hour’s smoking time. Lovely draw and almost perfect burn. I’d characterise these as just slightly rustic, but a good smoke and great value. Will be very interesting to follow this box (this was the first). Those dark-wrapped MCs all seem to have that earthy, rustic character to them. Reportedly with a few years they do develop dark caramel sweetness as well. 3

Popular Post Deeg
My first-ever Diplomatiocos (EML AGO 14), courtesy of the noble @JohnS. Nice medium colorado wrapper, very silky. Good construction, just a few touch-ups needed, draw a touch on the easy side. I know these are supposed to a lighter version of the Monte 2s for the French market, but the closest analog from my experience would be a slightly mild Partagas. In fact my experience was pretty similar to the one John described in his most recent take on this box. Light-medium to medium bodied. First third was milk coffee, "pure" toasted tobacco, sourdough. Second third was when notes of bell pepper and sweet paprika started to kick in, and the best part of the cigar. All in all a very pleasant smoke, albeit I don't tend to smoke cigars of this size that often - even at 90 minutes I wasn't close to nubbing it, and I tend to start getting palate fatigue past that point. 20
Popular Post IanMcLean68
I would like to thank @Luca for this superb Diplomaticos Bushido. Enjoyed whilst imbibing half a bottle of Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin 2018. I'm rather pissed whilst trying to type this up. So many corrections ,,,, Great combination ... I never released how difficult it was to type an entry into FOH'ers daily smoke whilst pissed off my scone. What a fantastic smoke !!! 98/100. The blister on my thumb and the severe case of hiccups I have now are testament to this great smoke,, About 4 years of age and these are just superb now! So smooth. No edges, Rich and flavourful from start to finish. Definitely see the marriage of Montecristo and Partagas flavours along with some nuttiness that reminds me very much of cashews and walnuts. I also saw some flavours in the final third that reminded me of a good Diplomaticos No.4, an amber tree resin spicy vegetal type of flavour. Fantastic smoke! 20
