Too dark for a pic, but '17 ERDM Demi Tasse.  Whoa!  SO much flavor and character for such a small cigar!  Nuts, citrus, cocoa, mustiness, sweet marshmallow, cedar and gentle earth all continuously evolving and morphing.  Gawd, what I wouldn't give for a long skinny of these to be brought back into regular production!  I missed the haydays of Tainos and Grandes de España.

Edit: still got an inch and a half left and getting some sort of rich candy note.  It may be caramel cream.  10/10!

Edit 2: Hell's bells, I'm going to smoke another one!

Edit 3: The second one was undefilled and was little more than citrusy earth.  I'm finding the best of these are packed firm and the loose ones are garbage.  Unacceptable given the pricetag.  I'm going to have to revisit the Choix Supreme next time I need to re-up in a robusto size.

SEA MAR 17 Non Plus thanks to [mention=32323]inter4alia[/mention]. I have to laugh a little when I smoke these. I read a lot of descriptions of flavors for certain cigars and some I can relate to and some I just can’t. However, when it comes to these and the Belicoso I totally get the salty driftwood thing. Very firm feeling cigar but the draw is very good. The burn got wonky for about half an inch in the first third but sorted itself out and has been straight ever since. Nice little cigar with a unique profile. Farewell, Non Plus.

 

Nice breeze tonight so I felt like enjoying another. LAR OCT 12 Perlas. Another great little cigar.

Picked up some Opus X while in the Pacific Northwest last summer, quite the cinnamon treat after just a year down. Just noticing the similarities in profile to Rio Seco, but with a NC kick to it. Goes great with Big Swell IPA.

Kind of a dreary morning, but it usually burns off by mid morning.  Got coffee in town and started this Esplendido.  Then I went over to the public beach for a change in scenery to finish it.

I lit this 2016 P2 and like others from this box they have been bland. Anyone else having issues with 2016 P2s?


So I said screw it and lit this SLR 2015....these have been nothing short of delicious consistency

In the sweet spot at 3 years. Rich earth, cocoa, coffee, caramel. Wonderful. Perfect while listening to Spanish guitar.

Por Larranaga Montecarlo LGR SEP 17. No caramel sweetness, instead a dark earthy tobacco flavour, with a hint of campfire woodsmoke. Very consistent over the hour’s smoking time. Lovely draw and almost perfect burn. I’d characterise these as just slightly rustic, but a good smoke and great value. Will be very interesting to follow this box (this was the first).

La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'Or No.4 ETP Ene 2016

This has been my fourth stick from this box and my best thus far. I made sure to smoke it slowly, of course! There was some nice fruit, wood, herbal notes and a hint of almond nut throughout. The draw was perfect and there was no burn issues, the ash was a consistent length of around one inch all the way.

One thing of interest was the lack of pepper (or spice) which made this remarkably easy to retrohale. I'm not inclined to savour cigars through the nose unless they are milder and this didn't disappoint, there was no tingle to it all. If you don't have the La Gloria Cuban Medaille d'Or No.4 in your rotation, make sure to add it as it is a long and skinny worthy of your time and attention, in my opinion.
