Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted August 20, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 20, 2019 It was a 5 cigar day, starting off with a CoRo and a failed attempt to get my hair cut. Novedosos E2 50 And whatever the fuck this Mexican thing is called. Mighty tasty, but the name is too hard after a couple of drinks. 26 10

Popular Post THEMISCHMAN Posted August 20, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 20, 2019 ASE NOV 09 Choix Supreme. Enjoying a nice evening on this last week of summer break. This Connie 1 has seen better days. I had to slide the band down to hold part of the wrapper in place. The upside is it’s smoking way better than it looks. 28
Popular Post Chucko8 Posted August 20, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 20, 2019 Siglo I from 1/4 box picked from 24:24 last year. Have smoked a couple of these now and this one has been the best by far. The usual characters associated with the Siglo line on display in spades. Yum ? 26

But it also was the first one of the day, so that gives it an unfair advantage over the others. It is too early for the Novedosos, but I can tell they are going to be really good when they are ready. You can definitely taste the Cohiba flavor profile, but they are still a little muted. They just need some time to open up. 1

Beautiful to look at, they smell great, and they have that cherry flavor that people associate with RyJ Churchills. If you were to ask me if they are worth the extra money, I would have to say, “I don't know”. Funny thing is, I have never smoked the regular wide Churchill’s, so I cant compare. It’s one of those things I have been meaning to buy, but just never got around to it.
Popular Post Ry27 Posted August 20, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 20, 2019 I have had way too many abysmal experiences with the Connie 1, if I didn't love Upmann as much as I do I wouldn't ever try them again, but boy do I love Upmann. Finally have had some good luck with a couple really good Connie 1s lately. Big fan of the hermosa 4, and it is such a great value. Cream and coffee overload. 25

Popular Post JohnS Posted August 20, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 20, 2019 Vegas Robaina Famosos AEM May 2015 This is the third Famosos I've had from this box and I must confess that this cigar, at this stage of its maturity at just over 4 years of age, is starting to grow on me. Before we get to discussing how it smoked, a caveat I need to share is the fact that the cigar came out of the box with no cap...yes, I repeat, no cap. At first I thought that someone had clipped it for me, but upon closer inspection, I could see that a cut was not applied to the head. The tobacco indicated no signs of being sliced and was rough and loose. As they say, "Cuba being Cuba", accept it, despite it making no sense, and move on. The flavours were very similar to the last one I had. There was minimal milk chocolate and raisin sweetness and a core 'pure tobacco' or grassy flavour, but not like Cohiba-type grass, and baking spice with a hint of floral notes. The flavours were one-dimensional, there was little complexity or change through the thirds, but this is not a criticism, I didn't mind it being this way. I nubbed the cigar as far as I could go and surprised myself at how long the cigar took me to smoke, perhaps 80 to 90 minutes, which for a Hermosos No.4 I would reckon my average time would be around the 70 to 75 minute mark. After smoking this today, I reflected on the fact that this year I consider the Sancho Panza Non Plus to be the most unique Habanos cigar in my rotation, at the moment. After having a few of these I believe this mid-term aged Vegas Robaina Famosos could be a candidate to join the SP Non Plus in terms of offering something different from other Habanos vitolas, when it comes to flavours. 31 1

Very odd, to see another smoker going through a similar aged box of Famosos at the same time, and also being a bit spellbound. I think Rob referred to is as 'sheer lushness'. I'm finding it mesmerising, I don't think i've smoked any other cigar which feels so unadulterated, like it's just pure terroir, like warm red cuban soil rolled into a cigar. That sounds incredibly existential and wankey, but I don't care. I feel confident now, that if I was trying to express to a friend how good cuban tobacco could be, I think I would give them a one of these Famosos, and tell them. "great cuban tobacco can taste like, lemongrass, chocolate, dates, berries, wood etc etc......but this....THIS..... tastes like great cuban tobacco" Glad you are enjoying yours John, as much as I'm enjoying mine. 3 1
