Popular Post JohnS Posted June 21, 2019 Popular Post Share Posted June 21, 2019 San Cristóbal de la Habana El Príncipe TOS Jun 2016 I lit this up after having a very bland Montecristo Line 1935 Maltes and thought to myself that the old reliable SCdLH El Principe flavour hit from the first few puffs was quite a charm. Sadly, this was a false dawn. I got some sweet molasses and muted cocoa and coffee and the cigar just didn't pick up from that whatsoever. Still, it was not totally bland and it was much better than the Maltes. I chalk this El Principe cigar to having 'one of those days'. Yes, we all have them. Delicious Pilsner and a JRAD concert on the speakers to go with my first ever Puntilla. Bits of Por Larrañaga and Trinidad coming through this first third. ETA: If only every cigar could be like this at 6 months’ age. This cigar is FIRE! Cigar of 2019 for me so far. Already a 96/100 through the first two thirds. 2nd third was a Policeman’s dream - all sugar doughnut dipped in black coffee and buttered toast. Popular Post Deeg Posted June 22, 2019 Popular Post Share Posted June 22, 2019 Couldn't resist trying one of these gorgeous ULA JUL 14 BPCs ROTT (Japan is close enough to Australia and the local customs and post so efficient that they only spent about 4 days in transit, door to door). They look good enough to eat, and taste as good as they look. With a wrapper this dark and shiny I'd worry about them needing time if they were younger, but that's where the pre-aging comes in of course. The middle third had some of that nice caramel depth which soon added a vanilla layer, presenting what I can only describe as butterscotch. The last third started to have burn issues, unsurprisingly as I gave them no time to settle, but apart from that a cracker. SCdlH El Principe from the 24:24, forgot the box code but sometime in 2018. Man, only smoked a few but what fantastic little cigars. Wonderful aroma, both pre-light and smoke. Dark sweet flavors of brown sugar, molasses, cocoa, oatmeal cookies and coffee. And an almost magical construction - did a hack job on the light today in windy conditions, and like the others the burn corrected itself beautifully. Are all San Cristobal this good? Thinking of keeping an eye our for a box in the hope that they might be prime before the PLPCs I'm waiting on get there. Never smoked one but hear really good things. Too be honest @Deeg this the only box I have ever had. But I can tell you that at this near 2 year juncture they are great.
