Very still outside in my backyard, no wind, no birds singing, just tranquility and quiet. This El Principe rewarded me with sweetness all the way to the end. Sugarcane water, like lightly sugared water. Towards the nub, some hay flavor showed up with the sugarcane. What a sweet tasting and light cigar, matching the sweetness of the silence of the night. Anyone get sugarcane? Bingo! The El Principe is famous for it. On FoH it's also categorised as 'molasses' quite often, which is a by-product of turning sugarcane into sugar. 3 1

Popular Post JohnS Posted March 6, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 6, 2019 Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan EML Jul 2015 At 3-and-a-half years of age, this Le Hoyo line cigar is only just staring to develop some creamy texture to it. It was mainly cedar, tea and a little cloved spice, certainly very different to the regular Hoyo de Monterrey line which I find has more light cocoa-type flavours to it. With time, I envisage that this will build in its creamy-textured flavours and be even more enjoyable to smoke. 25

Popular Post Lotusguy Posted March 6, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 6, 2019 Smoking my way through that Belux humidor I recently acquired. The Fonseca the other day was too mild. This Fabulosos (my first ever) was great - it seems they paid more attention in the earlier years of the RE program, compared to all the new Duke, Genios, and Montesco vitolas of recent years. Belux humidor part 3 JL Don Jose - outstanding cigar. The best of the 5 so far. I think I actually have a sealed box somewhere that I forgot about. 25
Popular Post RDB Posted March 6, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 6, 2019 Very young, and very nice. Rich and mild, a good combination. 19

Talisman UAO OCT 2017 Draw perfect Great mouth feel Burn got a little weird for a second at 1/3 but quickly fixed Nothing edgy except maybe the flaky ash All chocolate leather bread..... Excellent 24
Popular Post steelcity Posted March 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 7, 2019 Guessing this is the last cool night in FL probably for a long time. Really enjoy these Mag 54s. Wasn't a big fan of the 46s. 19

Popular Post Connoisseur Kim Posted March 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 7, 2019 Just had a break time cigar with the magnum opus, H. Upmann Connie A and in this time, I managed to nubbed it down as there was nothing interrupted me to puff Connie A unlike 2nd Connie A ?. The only annoying thing was the fuel of my torch was suddenly ran out after lighting it up so I had to use Cedar sheets for touching up (burning was way more stable than before but still needed some touch ups). I really hate the soft flame since it is not only taking longer but also has higher risk of finger burning compared to my reliable side squeeze Xikar torch! ?? Total time spent: 1hr 53min (longer than first two Connie As) P.S. Surprisingly, Earl Grey tea and Connie A pairs extraordinary well despite of the med-full strength of Connie A. Maybe because the flavour of Connie A is so smooth and refined that makes tea does not overpower the flavour of Connie A. ?? Lessons that I learned from Connie A: Do not judge a book by its cover! The size of cigar itself does not indicate whether the cigar would be powerful, smooth or what so ever. The blending of the cigar, on the other hand is definitely indicator for how the cigars would taste like (e.g. Connie A has more smooth and refined flavour than Mag 46, Partagas Shorts is more intense than its bigger brothers). There are many cigars that are great as or surpassing Cohiba such as LGC MdO 4, RASS and Upmann Connie A. So I encourage newcomers trying cigars from various marcas like Ramon Allones instead of just sticking with one particular marca or size (I myself did not expect to enjoy Panetelas as much as Robustos, Petit Coronas and Grand Coronas). Do not be afraid of the experiment which is one of the parts of CC journey ?! Cigars that are 50+ RG are tend to stay cool mostly compared to others including standard 50 RG Robustos. I am surprised that Connie A never went too hot even at nubbing! 18
Popular Post JohnS Posted March 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 7, 2019 Sancho Panza Non Plus ABR Sep 2011 Unfortunately, a few from the box have been a tad tight and this was no exception. How tight? Well, not plugged but if you draw once you'd only get one or two whiffs of smoke, so this was one of those cigars whereby I had to wrap my mouth literally around the head of the cigar and draw huge puffs in threes! At the same time I had to make sure that I didn't wet the tobacco leaf at the opening and make the cigar bitter, as is very easy to do, and the result was passable. The cream, salt, wood and herbal flavours were still there, but it took some work to get there! 19

Popular Post Lotusguy Posted March 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 7, 2019 Belux humidor part 4 - Ramon Allones Gran Robusto 2007 or 2008. Loose draw. Not much flavor. Disappointing. JL Short Torpedo - sadly a dud. Seemed way over the hill, like hot air. After that, I suspended my RE streak and lit up this NC. One of the few I enjoy. 19
Popular Post MikeinKS Posted March 7, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 7, 2019 I assume (hope) these don't have the same blend as the Epicure No. 2. I've sampled a dozen of them over the past 3 months and they just don't seem to be at the same level of HDM flavors. Still enjoyable though. 17
