Sancho Panza Molinos ABR Sep 2011

2006 was a bad year for Sancho Panza. Four vitolas, the Bachilleres, Coronas, Coronas Gigantes and Sanchos were deleted that year. In 2012, one of the last remaining regular production Lonsdales was also deleted, the Molinos. Why, oh Habanos S.A, why? I can attest that this ABR Sep 2011 Molinos I smoked this night was everything one could asked for in an aged Sancho Panza cigar. It had a nice balance of salted cream and wood, yet it was light on the palate. At times it was a little herbal but it was magnificent.

I picked this up from the LCDH at Falmouth, Jamaica in December 2018 in a box containing around 6 to 8 sticks, that's how long they were in the shop from 2011, so that may explain their deletion. It's a shame though that more cigar enthusiasts are not familiar with how well Sancho Panza ages and how uniquely good they can be.

I have smoked 2 from the same box code...they are already FANTASTIC! Amazing rich blend of savory and date sweetness. Cant wait to see what these do over the next few years.

 Found 6 1/2 boxes while rearranging my collection yesterday. Thought I only had four… So, it’s time to completely empty one of the boxes.

Connie 1 from a sampler pack. The first 2/3 had all the HU signatures, nutty and coffee flavors. Final third showed its youth with some sharp edges. Perhaps should have dry boxed for a few days, but it was a spontaneous Friday afternoon smoke at the office to end a tough week.

The Montecristo was hard as a rock under the label yet squishy like a sponge in the first third. Terrible draw, terrible construction, terrible result for what should be a well-crafted cigar. Pitched it about an inch in and grabbed an always reliable friend. Good ol' La Fuerza.  

I've had about 15 out of the box of 20 of the Montecristo and this is the first one that sucked. All of the other ones have been fabulous.

PSD4 from  2012. 

It's lovely and all but I must say that this cigar doesn't change alot with aging. Love them fresh or aged.

The draw was a bit too open but taste is W O N D E R F U L when you take shorter puffs. Complexity level 99

Honey-dipped grass with leathery earthiness on a bed of flowery cedar?

Oh and did I mention the magic touch of vanilla- cream ?

Haha it is good as evidence from the Nub, trying to let them age more to bring out more of the caramel flavor but for just over two years its quite enjoyable

Closing in on having smoked every RE ever released with this Punch Northern Lights. Quite earthy and strong.

 

Never bought a full box of those and the various singles I had didn’t blow me away but this one was very nice indeed.
