Popular Post Jimmy_jack Posted December 29, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 29, 2018 About once a week I’ll hit a NC and test the waters. Today I grabbed an Illsuione Epernay La Vie 6-3/4x56. I’ve had this in my humidor for about a year and a few months. I remember when I bought it an Illsuione event in Winter Park FL. Absolutley phenomenal. What a great smoke. Construction was great, great draw, good burn. Strong box press too. Loads of smoke. Floral pleasant smoke. Flavor wise it was floral, sweet tobacco. I don’t have a great palate so I won’t try to describe much more. Almost no pepper for the first 2/3 and a solid medium smoke till the end and it kicked up a little. Would love to find a box of these at the right price and store them. Retail is around $260 though and I would rather buy something from Rob at that price. Mid you have a chance give one a try. 13
Popular Post JohnS Posted December 29, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 29, 2018 1. Partagás Serie D No.4 GOS May 2018 I had this Partagas Serie D No.4 on a cruise ship while we were at sea in the Caribbean. It was a gorgeous 27°C (80°F), but quite humid off the sea and I have no doubt that this caused the wrapper to split in the last third. No matter, the cigar and conversation with other passengers was quite good! 2. Partagás Serie D No.6 RAE Dic 2014 This Partagas Serie D No.6 was stronger than I liked on account of the high humidity we experienced today on the sea on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. C'est la vie as they say, the conversation with other passengers, whilst smoking on the other hand, was enlightening! 3. Cohiba Shorts Again, the humidity off the sea on my Caribbean cruise meant that this was a little stronger than I usual like it to be. Oh well, thankfully it was only 10 minutes! 16

Popular Post Akela3rd Posted December 30, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2018 HUPC TOS NOV 16HU Regalias MEG MAR 17I had the HUPC a couple of days ago and thought I'd compare it with the Regalias... The HUPC was, as ever, a smooth, slightly nutty and for want of a better word, gentle, smoke. I've got a couple of dozen left and shall ration myself on these accordingly. The Regalias isn't as subtle but does share the Upmann DNA with a nutty background. I do think these will settle down nicely but although only a few months younger it's definitely still got 'elbows'. As an experiment I'm going to put the Regalias in my 50 count jar with the HUPC and give them the same conditions for a few months and see what develops. Sent from my ActionMan walkie-talkie 14

Just discussed this with another BOTL. While the Regalias is not the PC (not perceiving them as gentle, though) for sure, recent production Regalias seems (quite surprisingly for me) to be very good.
Popular Post Markspring1978 Posted December 30, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2018 This was a pretty decent NC. Lasted over 2 hours. I guess the stock was aged 11 years before it was rolled. Flavor not off the charts, but decent. Construction and draw was very good. 7

Or maybe I'm perceiving the HUPC through rose-tinted glasses due to it's reputation hereabouts whereas the Regalias is the unruly interloper? Context and perception certainly have an effect on the experience and in the smoking of both cigars I was aware of this. Interesting innit? Sent from my ActionMan walkie-talkie 1 1

Popular Post Jimmy_jack Posted December 30, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2018 Sunday morning coffee and YouTube binge cigar. A JohnnyO WF from April 2017. The large Laguito format. As oily today as when I received them. Absolutely packed to the gills with tobacco. Smooth, salty, twangy. I wish I had 50 more. I can’t say that for all of his stuff I’ve bought. But these have been fantastic. Ive been watching this WWII History Hunter channel a bit lately. Good stuff if you’re into that sort. https://www.youtube.com/user/WW2HistoryHunter 12

Popular Post MikeinKS Posted December 30, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2018 When you bring the family to Costa Rica and spend the day zip lining and river rafting, and they all say they want to go to the beach afterward, I'd say you're entitled! 11

Popular Post JohnS Posted December 30, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 30, 2018 1. Bolívar Belicosos Finos MSU Abr 2018 Bolivar is not a marca I usually reach out for, but the Belicosos Finos is a vitola I like to have on occasion. This was quite okay, the usual Bolivar flavours were there such as wood, spiced cream, earth and leather. Funnily enough, just after I smoked this I met another passenger on the cruise ship I was on who was from an indigenous area in Canada, about 1 hour away in Toronto. He told me that he had boxes of this cigar back home, it was his absolute No.1! "Did you see any Bolivar in the Falmouth Port LCDH in Jamaica this week?" I asked him. "I saw a few boxes of Coronas Gigantes, but they were priced too high. I love Coronas Gigantes though too!" In regards to their deletion and subsequent world-wide high demand in 2017, I couldn't help but chuckle! 2. Rafael González Perlas OPG Ene 2015 (Thanks @Luca!) Gifted by Luca, I absolutely adore this cigar, especially when slightly aged! Well, this is almost 4 years old, and the combination of cocoa, honey, baking spice and floral flavours was great with a cup of black espresso coffee. What a wonderful way to spend 30 minutes to end the day! 18 2
