Michel1968 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 A very nice Sancho Molino MCS FEB 07. Was skeptical at first with very little aroma from the box at cold, but a lovely smoke in the end. SMOOTH, earthy, a little coffee and dusting of cocoa. Kind of reminded me of a HU Monarca with a little age. Had one (also from 2007) at the fly last week and was evenly surprised. Underestimated IMHO...
phoenix Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Aftermath at work... Closed the day with a so-so Punch R.S.11 ASB MAR 07 i had a similar experience recently with a RS#11 from MGT ABR 07...
Lotusguy Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Great RG Panetelas from 2003. I still love them. This one was extremely sweet - more what I would expect from a LGC.
Michel1968 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 i had a similar experience recently with a RS#11 from MGT ABR 07... I saw your report on that one Phoenix, it got me to grab one in the first place. Last one I had (from this cab) was about a year ago and if memory serves right I found it much better then - as the ones before... Smell from the cab is simply great, schoolbook example of bloom, it's all there. Don't know what's happening with/to them taste wise.
maverickdrinker Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 For the drive up to a conference. 80s EDRM Tainos? A few weeks ago. A montecristo DC from the Ancient Humidor that was gifted to me.

Mine are more than likely cycling back thru a "sick" or "dumb" period-- not that dissimilar to what happens with wine periodically as it ages...
geneticdrifter Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 VR Famosos. First one. Woodsy notes dominate. Wrapper tasted almost like Grand Marnier. Slight orange-ish notes throughout. Great with cognac. Flavors evolved on the way down, but mainly wood; oak and a little cedar.
Dbone Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Oh yeah... while waiting for the cars oil change this morning. Typical PLPC, very enjoyable

riazp Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Just got back from stogies in montreal, enjoyed a great Siglo IV with LLC. Great cigar, better company. Thanks for getting me out of the house Gary, it was a great evening.
maverickdrinker Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Band on that tainos looks new, strange. You might very well be right. Was gifted the cigar as I have never smoked one and that is what I was told. It was quite good though. Finished the night with an 07 COhiba Siglo IV. Deliciousness in a corona gorda.

Finished the night with an 07 COhiba Siglo IV. Deliciousness in a corona gorda. Good cigar regardless. No cigars for me as have a major sore throat since yesterday. Luckily phoenix's pics make me feel like I'm smoking one lol. Hopefully I will be in top smoking form by saturday.
Dimmers Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 My first ever RyJ short Churchill........very impressed!
MrDowse Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Smoked a 2011 Dip#2 from the Czar last night. I was too busy enjoying it to take a pic
Michel1968 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Mine are more than likely cycling back thru a "sick" or "dumb" period-- not that dissimilar to what happens with wine periodically as it ages... That is a solid explanation, for sure, 'tough I would expect the effect somewhat less noticeable (compared to yesterday's experience) after 5 years of maturing. Anyway, I will give them another year before re-trying. BTW great looking Boli Inmensas! My TEB FEB 08 box is in a complete dumb state. High hopes for the future on this box. What startet as an all tobacco/earth/autumn leaves aroma has closed up to ammonia and some black berries behind that...
thechenman Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Some cigars over the past few days, Petit Corona week so far...... Tuesday night an SLR PC, from a five pack, 2004. Why were these discontinued.....why couldn't I get more.... what a fantastic smoke: Last night a Custom Roll PC, purchased early this year, leathery, earthy, great full flavour for a PC: Tonight was a Siglo II, from a PE box, purchased in a LFTH in ealry 2010, really come a long way and glad I've still got half a box. Only smoking one ever few months, so should get to see them mellow out nicely: Nice smokes. I take it you're a PC fan...no?
canadianbeaver Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Just got back from Casino Rama about 1.5 hours north of Toronto where I won $160. Then we went to Rama Moccasin and Smoke, a store that sells cc's under the minimum taxes allowable under Aboriginal exemption. http://instagr.am/p/NRsc6vC1gx/
