Popular Post JohnS Posted October 1, 2018 Popular Post Share Posted October 1, 2018 1. Ramón Allones Allones Superiores 2010 - LCDH Exclusivo 2010 ULA Sep 2014 This was a nice, complex smoke. It started off refined, with baking spice or floral notes dominating. In the middle third the cigar was more woody until the final third when it was mainly vegetal. In between, the Ramon Allones stewed fruit flavours were very much present and to the fore, yet I appreciated the mildness, with the cigar being just under 4 years of age. I look forward to see how these progress towards the 5th year. 2. Partagás Serie D No.6 RAE Dic 2014 This was the first from my box, which I've left to rest a bit over 3-and-a-half years. It started off with a wonderful sourdough and coffee flavour, very typical of Partagas, which continued until the first half. The second half of this short smoke picked up in intensity, with Partagas spice and pepper the main flavour, which suggests to me that these can still age to my liking for quite some time. A nice 40 minute smoke. 3. Rafael González Petit Coronas UTE Oct 2015 This was the first of a box which I've left to rest for around 3 years. It started off surprisingly spicy but quickly settled into a core cocoa, floral and woody flavour which stayed the same largely throughout. Where was the honey sweetness? There was a little element of it here and there, I'm hoping this picks up in sweetness with a little more age, together with the spice, which I hope will become more like a baking spice flavour. 17 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Impatient so it’s only had a week or so since transit, but it’s a lovely civilised thing in the autumn sunshine with a cup of tea and some home made marble cake. A (non-smoking) friend pulled out a desktop humidor filled with all kinds of fake Cohibas, sweet tipped NCs and random stuff that he'd been given. Among them all was one single tube of La Flor, a vitola I'd never seen before. The Predilectos. No idea on date but according to CCW, these were chopped in 02 so. It seems they have finally turned the corner and I'm starting to get the flavors everyone else has reported; it was an oily box, so the extra time has been warranted. I can now make it to the final third before the Nicaraguan-wannabe EL wrapper started needing relights to burn correctly. Last box of EL I will purchase.
