Talisman has been on my mind for the past few days so had to tonight. This one is MSU NOV 17 (Partagas?) and for a young stick it smokes very well.I've smoked at least a box from different codes and they've all performed well IMO. Love all those FdA vitolas. This was my first of the line. I would have preferred to try the Juniperos but this was the only vitola in stock. Was a good smoke but the epernays are the illusiones I really love.

Popular Post MountainMilG
need to finish the summer ale, football is starting. But was 90's yesterday, so a nice HUHC and summer ale went down well. Today is out with friend, cuban sandwiches, then back for bourbon and a bigger vitola "Man day" as my fiance called it , drawing down to a close. Out with friend, then cuban lunch, followed up by Monte's on the back porch with some Basil Hayden's. All in all a great day so far

liquid360
Just finished moving the house. Now a smoke. Cohiba Robusto Tube from a 15ct carton. Great smokes. I am very new to CC. I am told all the time that they must age, that they’re nothing without some age, that they need to rest...And so I now have around 40 boxes of cigars that are aging, but not many to smoke. The Cohiba Robusto is very high on my list of “Cigars That I Have But Can’t Smoke” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Popular Post JohnS
Below are the text reviews of the Mid-2018 Video Review Series I conducted recently... 1. Montecristo No.1 ESL Jun 2017 Colorado Claro wrapper, light and mild and pleasantly refined for a 12 month-old cigar. Distinctive Montecristo 'twang', i.e. Montecristo coffee/cocoa flavours and old leather throughout. This was a great cigar which I can envisage will only develop more creamy texture with age. 2. Rafael González Lonsdales SUA Jun 2000 (thanks ayepatz!) Gifted by ayepatz, this was a highly anticipated cigar-smoking experience for me. The main flavours I got from it were floral notes and baking spice, there was not much evidence of cocoa or honey sweetness which I come to expect from Rafael Gonzalez Perlas, for example. Nevertheless, it's aged well, was well-constructed and I'm grateful for the chance to have smoked it! 3. Diplomáticos No.4 OEB Feb 2007 (Thanks Will!) Gifted by Will, this surprised me for its strength, given its 11 year-old age. There was no sign of any cinnamon-type sweetness, but the core flavours of sourdough and nutmeg with paprika spice set it apart for its uniqueness amongst regular petit coronas I smoke. Again, I was grateful to sample this long deleted cigar again! 4. Partagás Lusitanias 2013 - Gran Reserva Cosecha 2007 Circa 2013 (Thanks Trevor!) Firstly, I'd like to thank Trevor for the opportunity to smoke this cigar. On the cold draw I picked up hay and caramel/honey, and these were the first flavours I experienced from the first few puffs upon lighting. As I drew down on the cigar, the hay became more cedar or wood, with the caramel and honey sweetness evident throughout. After the middle of the cigar there was hints of white pepper. The cigar was easy to retrohale through the nose, there wasn't too much spice, but due to the strong viscosity of the smoke from each puff, I wasn't too motivated to go past enjoying this the traditional way (i.e via drawing through the mouth). The one aspect of this cigar that stood out for me, which I also experienced when smoking the Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reserva Cosecha 2003 last year, was the velvety cream flavour off the smoke. That was there from the very first puff until I nubbed it with 1/4 of an inch. This was truly an experience. It's not often you have something close to a 100 point cigar and this was that type of cigar! 5. Cohiba BHK 56 Circa 2010 (Thanks Trevor!) The core flavours from the word 'go' were mocha coffee, orange zest citrus and cream off the smoke. This Cohiba Behike 56 was medium-full in strength, which surprised me as it was 8 years old. Towards the middle it became more buttery and picked up in spice, especially through the nose, although I did not retrohale often as the smoke was intensely viscous throughout. I'd like to thank Trevor for gifting me this cigar to smoke, again, it was quality from beginning to end. 6. Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo des Dieux MER Abr 2013 This des Dieux was aged 5 years and I was hoping for some cream and vanilla notes. From the cold draw I was able to get spiced clove and wood, which dominated the first third upon lighting. The spice was quite strong, especially through the retrohale, but this settled into the second third when I picked up some dried fruits and light coffee. Into the final third, the light coffee flavour gave way to tea. I was pleasantly surprised at how this evolved, in regards to flavours, through the cigar. 7. Ramón Allones Celestiales Finos 2009 - Edición Regional Asia Pacifico OMA Ago 2009 A complex smoke indeed! This was nigh on impossible to smoke at the 3-year mark, it was around the 5 to 6 year mark that the flavours started to be more discernible and the strength more manageable! Cocoa, chocolate, aged leather and toast was there from the beginning. Spice was stronger in the first half and quite strong through the nose, but it was easier to retrohale towards the end of the middle third onwards. In my opinion, this cigar still has legs for many years yet! 8. San Cristóbal de La Habana El Príncipe TOS May 2016 It's been some time since I've had a San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe as good as this one. Not that my other ones this year have been bad or average, rather, this one nailed the cocoa, coffee and molasses blend in a beautifully medium-mild 35 minute smoking experience. I wish they were all like this! 9. Rafael González Perlas PMS Abr 2015 It might have lacked that honey sweetness I like in them at times, but it sure made up for it in its cocoa, floral and baking spice refinement. This was great. The Rafael Gonzalez Perlas is an under-rated cigar. Try it if you haven't done so already. 10. Saint Luis Rey Serie A GAT Sep 2012 The Saint Luis Rey Serie A can be a complex cigar when aged. This cigar showed nuanced, subtle flavours and changes through the thirds. The first third showed notes of powdered cocoa, hay, lemon/orange citrus sweetness and apricot or peach stonefruit flavours. In the middle third there were additional floral flavours and cream. The end of the second third and the final third contained chocolate and espresso coffee. What a cigar! And, what a shame I have 9 left! 11. Sancho Panza Sanchos NNSO-TTH-02 (Nov 90) (Thanks ayepatz!) This November '90 Gran Corona was generously gifted to me by ayepatz. Even though it was 28 years old, it still had distinctive Sancho Panza flavours such as cedar/wood and salt. The aging brought forth a floral taste to the cigar, together with hints of licorice sweetness at times. There was enough strength in this cigar to easily nub it after over 2 hours! 12. H. Upmann Noellas 2009 - LCDH Exclusivo Glass Jar Circa 2010 (Thanks Trevor!) Even after 8 years, this 2010 batch H.Upmann Noellas packs a punch. The quintessential H.Upmann espresso coffee and shortbread is there, together with almond nut on the edges, but the white pepper makes this cigar a little challenging to retrohale! Still, quite enjoyable despite its strength. Thank you Trevor for gifting it to me!
