LLC Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 how are these smoking? any particular flavour notes? So far about half way through and a little muted. Mostly wood, earthy and leather with just a hint of spice through the retrohale. Medium bodied but the pepper that used to be more prominent seems more subtle. I’ll update if the second half changes much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Popular Post JGD Posted August 17, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 17, 2018 Cohiba Robusto, beer, lobster roll. Enjoyed all on the back deck of a lobster pound in Swamscott, MA. 9
Popular Post encephalization Posted August 17, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 17, 2018 MES DIC11. With my muse and new smoking friend, Margaret. She is my landlord (and friend)'s dog with extreme social anxiety. Since I got my new patio, she always wants to be close while I'm having a cigar. Company excellent and smoke better than good. Finally an Añejado that delivers. And an HU robusto isn't shabby, great vitola and great marca. 2002 Mille Fleurs. Despite the awful looking band and rugged ash, this smoked very good. Hints of Ramon DNA but also more subtle notes of what I would describe as seaweed and tea. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk 12

Popular Post SigmundChurchill Posted August 18, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 18, 2018 I chose not to go out to the beach house this weekend because the weather is not great, and apparently President Trump is out there for a fundraiser and traffic is expected to be terrible. I got out of work at 6:30 AM with a 7:00 AM tee time scheduled. Unfortunately, I got the dreaded email from the club, saying that the course is too wet to open, and that they would re-evaluate at noon to see if they would open at all today. Since the things that are not under my control dont seem to be going my way, I decided to make sure that the things that ARE under my control, do go my way.... ‘04 Trinidad Fundadore and a Jamaican Blue Mountain flat white. 18

Popular Post JohnS Posted August 18, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 18, 2018 1. Romeo y Julieta Churchills OBM May 2017 This cigar has continued the great run of 2016/17 Romeo y Julieta Churchills I've recently had that have excelled in their cherry, rosewater, anise and Turkish delight sweetness. This has become my 'go-to' cigar lately. What a shame I have only six left! 2. Cohiba Espléndidos RUM Jun 2017 Unfortunately, this Cohiba Esplendidos suffered from construction issues soon after lighting. It was a combination of tunneling and canoeing, together with a tight draw which made it difficult to appreciate the quality flavour that this cigar would have otherwise offered. Interestingly, the final third was good and I did get 20 to 25 minutes grace from it, which allowed me to nub it. 3. H. Upmann Sir Winston RUM Jul 2017 Just on 12 months and this smoked a little more harsher than the previous one I had 6 months ago. The H. Upmann shortbread and espresso flavours were there, combined with a sweet woodiness and leather in the back half. there were hints of dark or bitter chocolate in the last third, perhaps this will ease off in the next 6 to 12 months. Still, this was a great smoke, very easy to nub! 4. Montecristo No.2 PMS Abr 2015 This was the first cigar of a PSP standard PMS Abr 15 Montecristo No.2 10's box which I had in my on-line humidor for three years to let the oils in the wrapper settle. As you can see from the image, the wrapper is more a colorado/colorado rosado shade (i.e. one step short of colorado maduro) so I was expecting a strong cocoa and coffee hit, which was the case. There was some nut and leather, but no cream texture to this, unlike some lighter-wrappered Montecristo No. 2's I've had this past year. Again, in summary, it was classic Montecristo flavours and much enjoyed! 14

Popular Post earthson Posted August 18, 2018 Popular Post Posted August 18, 2018 '17 Trinidad Vigia. That's pectin on it, not mold - inadvertently closed the humidor lid on it after some late night drunken rummaging. Glued the 2 minor cracks and am enjoying the flattened head immensely - so much easier to handle the large RG! Maybe I should raise the humidity on the remaining and see if I can press the heads on the remaining!? These are outstanding and don't seem to need the age other Trinidads demand. First third was that delicious cake/donut with what can only be described as an elegant and complex flourish on the finish. Into the second third and now that same flourish is preceded with creamy coffee and a cool, almost minty blast of flavor. I do wish these were given a belicosos head to make smoking them easier. 7

Even if we'll likely have to pay an extra $50 per box, just for the terrible new bands.

Excellent cigar excellent wine great night. Is this a blend? How does it pair with the RA profile? I haven't done much pairing of cigars and wine. I think maybe that's something I need to try. Always been a little hesitant...or just end up going with a rum, whisky, or a beer.
